NMB AND DAWA MKONONI PARTNER TO STRENGTHEN THE PHARMACEUTICAL SECTOR

KIGALI, Rwanda — NMB Bank has partnered with health technology company Dawa Mkononi to establish a Capital Financing Programme for pharmacies and pharmaceutical manufacturers.

The programme will enable eligible pharmaceutical distributors and businesses to access working capital to support and expand their operations.

Under a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed in Kigali, Rwanda, NMB Bank will provide financing through Dawa Mkononi’s digital platform, a move aimed at addressing liquidity challenges affecting the procurement, availability and distribution of medicines across the healthcare supply chain.

NMB Bank Director of Strategy and Growth, Francis Mittah, said the partnership demonstrates the opportunities for banks and technology companies to collaborate in developing financial solutions that meet the needs of businesses through digital platforms.

For his part, Dawa Mkononi Chief Executive Officer, Joseph Paul, said access to capital is an important component in building a strong and efficient pharmaceutical distribution chain, particularly for businesses that require sufficient liquidity to ensure the continuous availability of medicines.
