Morogoro & Kilimanjaro, 11 December 2025 — Airtel Tanzania has continued to advance its nationwide network expansion efforts with the successful construction and commissioning of three new communication towers across the Morogoro and Kilimanjaro regions. The new sites are set to significantly enhance connectivity, improve service delivery, and boost socio-economic opportunities for thousands of residents.
The Morogoro region leads with the installation of two towers—one at Magoweko Ward in Gairo District and another at Kihonda VETA. In Kilimanjaro, a new tower has been built in Sanya Juu, Hai District, bringing the total number of new sites to three. These installations are expected to resolve long-standing connectivity gaps and support growth in education, commerce, digital services, and community development.
Speaking at the launch, Faustine Mtui, Airtel Tanzania’s Kilimanjaro Zonal Manager, reaffirmed Airtel’s commitment to advancing national development:
“This investment reaffirms Airtel’s dedication to supporting the government’s vision of expanding communication services and creating livelihoods for young people. Our focus remains on delivering reliable, affordable, and inclusive network coverage to underserved areas.”
Airtel’s presence is already creating positive ripple effects in Gairo District, where over 300 youth currently earn through mobile money agency services. With improved connectivity from the new tower, more employment opportunities are expected to emerge, along with expanded access to financial and commercial services.
