Exim Bank Tanzania has pledged to give equal employment opportunity to deserving Tanzanians in its recruitment policy as long as they meet the bank’s qualification criteria.
The statement was said by the Chief Executive Officer of the Bank, Mr. Dinesh Arora on the sidelines of the Global Career Africa Recruitment Summit 2015, held in New York, United States of America (USA) over the weekend.
Mr. Arora said the bank felt the need to participate in the summit to scout and recruit Tanzanian professionals from the Diaspora to join the bank’s workforce.

AIRTEL Tanzania has launched a new mobile money offer that will see its customers send money free of charge to family and friends on Airtel network across the country.
The new offer dubbed “Okoa Mapene” a Swahili for” save pennies,” is aimed at enhancing mobile financial inclusion as well as to offer Airtel customers affordability and flexibility in their day to day money transactions.
“We are again demonstrating our commitment to provide flexibility and affordability in our Airtel Money services, Airtel Public Relations Manager, Mr Jackson Mmbando said at the launching event in Dar es Salaam on Wednesday.

NIKO INSURANCE REBRANDS TO SANLAM
NIKO Insurance Limited has rebranded to Sanlam General Insurance Tanzania Limited to strengthen its identity and expand its visibility in Tanzania and East Africa where it also has a presence in Kenya, Rwanda and Uganda.
Sanlam, the South Africa- based multinational financial services group owns 46 per cent stake in NIKO through its subsidiary company, Sanlam Emerging Markets (SEM).
Sanlam General Insurance Chief Executive Officer, Mr Manasseh Kawoloka, said in Dar es Salaam on Wednesday that Sanlam will continue to offer a full range of general insurance products for both personal and corporate clients.

It was agreed that the frequency band 1087.7-1092.3 MHz to be allocated to the aeronautical mobile-satellite service (Earth-to-space) for reception by space stations of Automatic Dependent Surveillance-Broadcast (ADS-B) emissions from aircraft transmitters.
The frequency band 1087.7-1092.3 MHz is currently being utilized for the transmission of ADS-B signals from aircraft to terrestrial stations within line-of-sight. The World Radiocommunication Conference (WRC-15) has now allocated this frequency band in the Earth-to-space direction to enable transmissions from aircraft to satellites. This extends ADS-B signals beyond line-of-sight to facilitate reporting the position of aircraft equipped with ADS-B anywhere in the world, including oceanic, polar and other remote areas.

ORANGE SIGNS AN AGREEMENT WITH HELIOS INVESTMENT PARTNERS FOR THE SALE OF ITS STAKE IN TELKOM KENYA
NAIROBI, Kenya, November 10, 2015/ -- The Orange Group (http://www.orange.com) announced yesterday that it has signed a binding agreement with Helios Investment Partners for the sale of its entire 70% stake in Telkom Kenya.
The finalization of the transaction remains subject to approval from the relevant authorities.
This signature reflects Orange's constant focus on optimizing its portfolio of assets. The Africa and Middle-East region is a strategic priority for the Group.
Telkom Kenya is the country’s incumbent fixed-line operator and is the third player in the mobile market. The company, which operates a high-quality mobile data network, had four million mobile customers at the end of June 2015 according to figures published by the regulator.

DUTCH FIRM WINS TENDER FOR EXPANSION OF DAR AIRPORT
BAM International has received instructions to proceed with phase II of designing and building the new Terminal III of Julius Nyerere International Airport (JNIA). Fully known as Koninklijke BAM Groep or Royal BAM Group, is a major European construction-services business with headquarters in Bunnik, Netherlands.
The firm said in its website that the Tanzania Airport Authority (TAA), instructed it to proceed with phase II of the JNIA terminal III project in the contract valued over 100 million Euro (about 240bn/-).
The contract value of phase I awarded to BAM in 2013 was more than 130 million Euro (about 312bn/-). However, the Deputy Minister for Transport, Dr Charles Tizeba, said in Dar es Salaam that although he was out of office for the just ended political campaigns trail, but was aware of the initiatives to look for funds to implement the second phase of the JNIA terminal III project.

Similarly, Equity group holdings limited has posted net profit of 256bn/- (Kshs.12.8 billion) as at September 2015 up from 224bn/-(Kshs.11.2 billion) last year. Also, the Groups profit before tax grew by 14 per cent to 362bn/-(Kshs.18.1 billion) up from 318bn/- (Kshs.15.9 billion).
The Equity Group’s Chief Executive Officer, Dr James Mwangi said during an investor’s briefing session that the outstanding performance is contributed by the bank’s strategic initiatives and innovations toward enhancement of access, convenience and affordability of financial services.
He said the impressive growth is underpinned by continued investment in the innovative new channels of agency and mobile banking, success of diversification and regional expansion that saw the Group’s acquisition of Pro-Credit of DRC Congo completed and consolidated into the Group’s 3rd quarter results.

EPZA / TIB DEVELOPMENT BANK JOINT SEMINAR ON RE-DEVELOPMENT OF THE INDUSTRIAL SECTOR THROUGH EPZ AND SEZ
DAR ES SALAAM, Monday October 12, 2015 - PROMINENT leaders of financial institutions in the country met in Dar es Salaam recently to deliberate on the best strategies through which they can spur the country's industrialisation drive.
EXPORT Processing Zones Authority (EPZA) and TIB Development Bank co-hosted the first ever seminar on the role of financial institutions in the national industrialisation, with the key focus being on resource mobilisation for Bagamoyo Special Economic Zone and Kurasini Logistic Centre projects.
EPZA Director General Col (rtd) Joseph Simbakalia, addressing the seminar participants, described Bagamoyo SEZ that will be built on 9,000 hectares as the authority's current flagship project which has reached a good developmental stage, noting that about 1.5 billion US dollars (over 3trn/-) is required in the next seven years to accomplish the Bagamoyo and Kurasini multibillion dollar projects.
