Exim Bank Tanzania has pledged to give equal employment opportunity to deserving Tanzanians in its recruitment policy as long as they meet the bank’s qualification criteria.
The statement was said by the Chief Executive Officer of the Bank, Mr. Dinesh Arora on the sidelines of the Global Career Africa Recruitment Summit 2015, held in New York, United States of America (USA) over the weekend.
Mr. Arora said the bank felt the need to participate in the summit to scout and recruit Tanzanian professionals from the Diaspora to join the bank’s workforce.
“We are diligent in our efforts to provide equal opportunity to qualified individuals regardless of where they are presently settled,” said Mr. Arora.
He added: “It is important that we continue with our efforts toward maintaining a diversified workforce, because each of us will benefit in countless ways from the opportunities to work among peers who have been exposed to financial sector practices of various countries and possess experiences that differs from our own.”
The Global Career Africa Recruitment Summit is an annual event which helps high-caliber Diaspora find jobs in back home. Also in attendance was the bank’s Head of Human Resource Mr. Frederick Kanga.
Speaking on the reason for the Bank’s participation in the Summit, Mr, Kanga highlighted that as the Bank is undergoing its transformation, it has identified three key pillars that are necessary in achieving the desired transformation; these are people, technology and processes.
Being one of the leading local Banks and the first Tanzanian Bank to open subsidiaries outside Tanzanian borders, the Bank is looking towards acquiring Tanzanian talents from the diaspora so that can be utilized to acquire tripartite benefit: for the candidates themselves in getting assurance of employment before coming back home, the Bank in its initiatives to grow as well as Tanzania as a nation in getting back its workforce to contribute to the economy and consequently development of the nation.
Since the beginning of the initiative, the Bank has recruited 25 diaspora from UK, the US as well as South Africa.
