Stanbic Bank Tanzania Chief Executive Officer, Manzi Rwegasira (right), presents a TZS 20 million sponsorship cheque to the Director General of the East, Central and Southern Africa Health Community (ECSA-HC), Dr. Ntuli Angyelile Kapologwe, in Dar es Salaam. The funding will support the ECSA-HC Medical and Surgical Camps Initiative, which will provide free medical and surgical care to underserved communities in Malawi and Tanzania’s Arusha and Mtwara regions in July 2026.

Dar es Salaam, Tanzania – June 22, 2026 – Stanbic Bank Tanzania has reaffirmed its commitment to improving healthcare access across East and Southern Africa through a TZS 20 million sponsorship to the East, Central and Southern Africa Health Community (ECSA-HC) Medical & Surgical Camps Initiative.

The initiative will provide free surgical and medical services to underserved communities in July 2026 through specialized medical camps scheduled to take place at selected health facilities in Malawi and Tanzania’s Arusha and Mtwara regions.

The sponsorship cheque was presented by Stanbic Bank Tanzania Chief Executive Officer, Manzi Rwegasira, to Dr. Ntuli Angyelile Kapologwe, Director General of ECSA-HC. The funding will support the deployment of specialist medical teams to deliver critical healthcare services to patients who would otherwise have limited access to surgery and quality medical care.

The latest contribution adds to Stanbic Bank Tanzania’s growing investment in community wellbeing. Between 2025 and 2026, the bank has contributed more than TZS 230 million toward healthcare and social impact initiatives, demonstrating its commitment to strengthening access to essential services and improving the quality of life in the communities it serves.

Mr. Rwegasira was joined during the cheque presentation by Fredrick Max, Head of Business & Commercial Banking, and Doreen Dominic, Head of Public Sector (Business & Commercial Banking), highlighting the bank’s broad-based support for the initiative.

The sponsorship comes at a significant milestone for Stanbic Bank Tanzania as it celebrates 30 years of operations in the country. Over the past three decades, the bank has evolved beyond its role as a financial institution to become a strategic partner in Tanzania’s social and economic development. Through this partnership with ECSA-HC, the bank is extending its impact beyond national borders to support regional healthcare advancement.

Speaking during the handover ceremony, Mr. Rwegasira emphasized the importance of partnerships in driving sustainable development.

As Stanbic Bank, we remain committed to creating meaningful impact in the communities we serve. Partnerships such as this reflect our belief that sustainable development is driven through collaboration, particularly in critical sectors like healthcare,” he said.

Receiving the sponsorship on behalf of ECSA-HC, Dr. Kapologwe highlighted the organization's ongoing efforts to address major public health challenges across the region, including communicable diseases such as Ebola and malaria. He stressed that strategic partnerships are essential for strengthening healthcare systems and ensuring timely responses to emerging health risks.

Health is the foundation on which communities and economies are built, and no single institution can carry that responsibility alone. Stanbic Bank’s support helps us bring specialist care directly to the people who need it most, while encouraging wider partner support for stronger health outcomes across the region,” said Dr. Kapologwe.

The contribution has also been recognized as an important catalyst for mobilizing additional support from stakeholders and strengthening collaboration toward sustainable healthcare outcomes across East, Central and Southern Africa.

Through strategic partnerships and targeted social investments, Stanbic Bank Tanzania continues to reinforce its role as a regional impact partner, supporting healthcare access, empowering communities and contributing to broader social and economic development.
