Moshi, Tanzania; April 4th, 2022: The UK Minister for Africa, Latin America and the Caribbean Hon. Vicky Ford today, yesterday had a tour to one of Serengeti Breweries Ltd’s (SBL) plants located in Moshi in northern Tanzania where she met staff and saw a range of local and international beer and spirits brands produced by the Diageo owned company.
SBL, the leading beer and spirits producer in Tanzania, is also one of the large tax payers and a key contributor to the country’s economy. The company runs a number of community support programs ranging from water stewardship, tree planting to supporting local farmers - growers of barley, maize and sorghum that SBL uses for beer production. Over 80% of SBL’s raw materials are sourced from the local farmers.
“I am so delighted to see the level of women inclusion at Serengeti Breweries Ltd and the company’s commitment in supporting local communities,” said Hon. Ford during the visit. SBL’s spirits facility in Moshi which was commissioned last year is operated by all-female staff.
