12 IRANIAN NATIONALS CHARGED WITH SH 2 BILLION DRUG HAUL


Dar es Salaam. Some 12 Iranian nationals were yesterday charged at the Kisutu court with trafficking in drugs worth over Sh2 billion.
The accused were brought before Resident Magistrate Janeth Kaluyenda but were not required to enter any plea because the court has no jurisdiction to hear the case. The foreigners were all returned to remand prison.
According to prosecution led by state attorney Hellen Mushi, the accused committed the offence contrary to section 16(b) of the Drugs and Prevention of Illicit Trafficking in Drugs Act, Cap number 95 of 2002 as amended by written laws number 6 of 2012.
The prosecution alleged that the accused were found on October 30, this year, at Outer Anchorage in Tanzania waters in Dar es Salaam trafficking in 41,713.57 grams of heroin worth Sh2,085,678,500.
The accused include Mansoor Ruisi, 24, Kheri Mohamed, 32, Rasul Baksh, 50, Gulam Rezar, 42, and Nawab Bari, 40.
Nazir Pack, 39, Mohamed Rafia,25, Rahim Baksh,49, Salim Kosal,43, Yari Muhamad,35, Razar Raisi 32 and Allan Jawi, 35.
The case will come for mention on November 18, this year, as investigations are not yet completed.
