Dar es Salaam; November 3, 2026 - KCB Bank Tanzania has introduced a service enabling Tanzanians earning income through international employment and business opportunities to transfer funds directly from PayPal into their bank accounts through the KCB Mobile App. The initiative aims to simplify access to earnings generated from services provided to clients outside the country.
Launched on October 9, 2026, the service allows customers to link their PayPal accounts with their KCB bank accounts, receive international payments through PayPal and transfer the funds directly into their bank accounts using their mobile phones. The development is expected to reduce reliance on intermediary channels previously used by some Tanzanians to access their international earnings.
The service is expected to benefit freelancers, content creators, writers, technology professionals, online entrepreneurs and tourism companies that receive payments from international clients through digital platforms.
Speaking during the launch, KCB Head of Digital Financial Services, Josina Njambi, said the partnership aims to make digital financial services more accessible and convenient for customers working with clients across different parts of the world.
She added that the service is also part of the bank's Ina-Make Cents campaign, which seeks to encourage greater adoption and use of mobile banking services.
The integration of PayPal with KCB Bank adds to the growing range of digital channels available to Tanzanians seeking to earn income from international markets. This follows the partnership between Vodacom's M-Pesa and PayPal, announced in May 2026, which also aimed to facilitate access to international payments.
However, customers are advised to familiarise themselves with applicable transaction fees, foreign exchange rates and withdrawal terms and conditions before using the service to ensure they understand the costs involved.
