The President of Zanzibar and Chairman of the House of Representatives, Dr. Hussein Ali Mwinyi, has praised NMB Bank PLC for its ongoing support of various government initiatives, including the 61st Anniversary Celebrations of the Zanzibar Revolution (Mapinduzi). NMB sponsored and participated in the National exercise day as well as the Mapinduzi Cup tournament.

President Mwinyi expressed his gratitude on Wednesday, January 1st, while leading thousands of Zanzibaris in the National Exercise Day at the Mnazi Mmoja grounds in Wete District of North Pemba Region. This event is part of the celebrations marking 61 years of the Zanzibar Revolution, culminating on January 12th.

Dr. Mwinyi commended NMB for funding the exercises and providing 100 tracksuits for leaders, valued at TZS 9 million. The bank also sponsored the Revolution Cup 2025 with TZS 50 million, prompting him to encourage the continued partnership.

"I extend my sincere thanks to NMB Bank for continuously supporting various activities of the Zanzibar Revolutionary Government (SMZ) and even the Government of the United Republic of Tanzania. Their significant participation in this event is crucial for the health of Zanzibaris, and they have enhanced our appearance with the attire provided," Dr. Mwinyi remarked.

He emphasized that the Zanzibar Revolutionary Government recognizes and appreciates NMB's significant contributions to the development and welfare of Zanzibaris, expressing confidence that the cooperation will continue.

NMB's Zanzibar Regional Manager, Ms. Naima Said Shaame, stated that the bank has been a long-time partner of both the Zanzibar government and the United Republic of Tanzania, sponsoring the Revolutionary Celebrations for 12 years.

"This marks the 12th year that NMB has collaborated with the SMZ to facilitate the Revolutionary Celebrations. This year, we have provided 100 exercise tracksuits worth TZS 9 million, believing this contribution will promote exercise in Zanzibar and throughout Tanzania," Ms. Naima explained.

Additionally, Ms. Shaame highlighted the TZS 50 million sponsorship for the Revolution Cup, noting that both the sponsorship and the tracksuits demonstrate NMB's commitment to sports, as they enhance our health which is vital for economic growth.

"It is a great honor for us to continue partnering with the government through 12 years of NMB being integral to these events," emphasized Ms. Naima in her speech to thousands of Tanzanians present, led by the hosts from Pemba Island.

Recently, NMB Bank’s Zanzibar Branch Manager, Ahmed Jumaa Nassor, handed over the 100 tracksuits and a mock cheque of TZS 50 million for the Revolution Cup sponsorship to the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Information, Youth, Culture, and Sports Zanzibar, Ms. Fatma Hamad Rajabu.
