BOLT BUSINESS RECORDS 71% GROWTH IN TANZANIA, EYES FURTHER CORPORATE EXPANSION

Dar es Salaam, Tanzania: Bolt Business, a leading corporate mobility solutions provider in Tanzania, has recorded year-on-year revenue growth of more than 71%, reflecting increasing demand from companies seeking smarter, safer and more efficient ways to manage business travel.

The growth was highlighted during the Bolt Business Mobility Forum held at Barraca Restaurant in Dar es Salaam, where business executives, corporate leaders and industry experts discussed the evolving role of mobility in driving business productivity and economic growth.

The forum explored how corporate mobility has evolved in Tanzania since the COVID-19 pandemic, with discussions shifting from viewing transportation as an operational expense to recognising it as an important component of business infrastructure.

Launched in Tanzania with a modest revenue base, Bolt for Business has experienced significant growth, particularly in 2022, as more organisations embraced digital mobility solutions to manage employee transportation, improve travel efficiency and enhance convenience when attending business meetings.

Speaking at the event, Bolt Business' newly appointed Country Manager for Tanzania, Cynthia Ponera, attributed the growth to a changing corporate mindset, with businesses increasingly viewing mobility as a strategic investment rather than a routine operating cost.

"Most businesses understand that every arrival an employee makes at a meeting has to be a dignified arrival that boosts the morale and confidence of their efforts.

"The conversation is no longer about getting employees from one meeting to another. It is about giving organisations greater visibility, safety and efficiency while reducing the hidden costs of business travel," Ponera said.

Bolt Partners with Barraca Restaurant to Launch Dine and Ride Campaign

Alongside the forum, Bolt Business partnered with Barraca Restaurant to introduce the Dine and Ride campaign in Dar es Salaam, aimed at improving customer convenience through discounted transportation.

Under the campaign, customers spending a minimum of TSh 30,000 at Barraca Restaurant will qualify for Bolt ride discounts of up to 50%.

The partnership seeks to address transportation and parking challenges around Tanzanite Park Tower, located along Old Bagamoyo Road, where limited parking space can affect the overall customer experience.

Barraca Restaurant's Strategy Advisor, Bethany Barikieli, said the campaign is designed to enhance customer experience by enabling diners to enjoy the restaurant's services without worrying about transportation challenges.

She noted that partnerships of this nature are increasingly important in stimulating business activity, particularly for hospitality establishments operating in busy urban locations.

Traffic Congestion Remains a Major Economic Challenge

The discussions also highlighted the wider economic implications of traffic congestion in Tanzania.

In 2021, President Samia Suluhu Hassan revealed that traffic congestion was costing the country approximately TSh 4 billion daily, equivalent to around TSh 1.44 trillion annually, through lost productivity, increased fuel consumption and delays in economic activities.

Against this backdrop, digital mobility solutions are increasingly being viewed as part of the broader effort to improve urban transportation efficiency and reduce the indirect costs associated with business travel.

Digital Solutions Transforming Corporate Mobility

The forum further highlighted the global shift towards digitalising corporate transportation and travel management.

A 2023 study by McKinsey & Company on mobility budgets found that 87% of business users ranked automated expense accounting among the most important features of corporate mobility solutions, while 85% prioritised digital invoice submission.

These findings underscore the growing importance of technology in simplifying corporate travel administration, improving financial transparency and reducing administrative workloads.

Ponera observed that Tanzanian organisations are increasingly looking beyond basic employee transportation to embrace digital mobility platforms that provide better financial visibility, automate reporting and improve operational efficiency.

For hospitality businesses such as Barraca Restaurant, such solutions also offer an opportunity to improve customer service by addressing challenges associated with heavy traffic and limited parking facilities.

Bolt Business Reaffirms Commitment to Corporate Mobility

Bolt Business reaffirmed its commitment to supporting Tanzanian organisations in transitioning from fragmented travel management systems to transparent, safe and data-driven mobility solutions.

Through its digital platforms and corporate partnerships, the company aims to help businesses manage transportation more efficiently, improve employee mobility and reduce administrative costs.

The company's growing presence in Tanzania reflects the increasing role of technology-driven transportation solutions in supporting corporate operations, enhancing productivity and contributing to the country's broader economic development.
