NMB SPONSORS MAPINDUZI CUP 2025 & NATIONAL EXERCISE DAY IN ZANZIBAR

NMB Bank has announced a sponsorship of 50 million Tanzanian shillings for the Zanzibar Mapinduzi Cup 2025, set to commence on January 1, 2025, at Gombani Stadium in Pemba. Unlike previous years, this tournament will feature national teams rather than club teams from Tanzania Mainland and Zanzibar.

In addition to this sponsorship, NMB has also donated 100 tracksuits valued at 9 million shillings to be worn by officials of the Zanzibar Revolution Government on National Exercise Day (January 1, 2025). This event is part of the celebrations for the 61st Anniversary of the Zanzibar Revolution, held under the theme "Peace, Unity, and Solidarity for Our Development - Revolution Forever."

The handover ceremony for the sponsorship dummy cheque and tracksuits took place at the Conference Hall of the Ministry of Information, Youth, Culture, and Sports in Zanzibar whereby NMB's Acting Zanzibar cluster Manager, Ahmed Jumaa Nassor, presented the items to hon. Fatma Hamad Rajabu, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, in the presence of NMB Zanzibar's Government Business Relationship Manager, Jaha Khamisi.

During her remarks upon receiving the cheque and tracksuits, Fatma expressed gratitude to NMB for their contribution, cooperation, and solidarity with the government led by President Dr. Hussein Ali Mwinyi. She urged the bank to continue this partnership for the prosperity and development of Zanzibar and its people.

"NMB's involvement is not just during the Zanzibar Revolution celebrations; they are at the forefront of promoting the development of the islands and their residents in many areas, including sports. They have been a consistent sponsor of the Mapinduzi Cup for several years, helping to increase employment through sports," she noted.

"We are pleased to receive sponsorship for the National Exercise Day and the significant support for the 2025 Mapinduzi Cup. This year, instead of clubs, national teams, including the Zanzibar Heroes, will compete. We urge Zanzibaris to come out in large numbers at Gombani Stadium in Pemba to support their team in retaining the title," added Fatma.

On his part, Ahmed Jumaa Nassor stated that NMB is proud to be part of the Zanzibar Revolution celebrations for 12 years and appreciates the efforts of the Zanzibar government in creating an enabling environment for serving the Zanzibaris and supporting their development efforts.

"NMB has been a major partner to both the Zanzibar and Tanzanian governments, and it is an honor to continue being part of the 61st Anniversary of the Revolution celebrations.

"Today, we are presenting 100 tracksuits for participants of the National Exercise Day in Zanzibar on January 1st, believing this contribution will motivate continued enthusiasm for exercise among Zanzibaris. Additionally, we are handing over a sponsorship check for the Mapinduzi Cup, worth 50 million shillings," Ahmed stated, adding:

"This sponsorship and equipment are evidence of NMB's commitment to sports, as our health is boosted through physical activity, and robust health is key to individual and national economic growth.

"It is a great honor for us to continue our collaboration with the government for 12 years, making NMB a vital part of these events," Ahmed emphasized during the ceremony, which was also attended by the ministry officials and the Mapinduzi cup organizing committee members.
