A section of gardeners working on one of the gardens maintained by Exim Bank Tanzania in Dar es Salaam yesterday. The bank maintains several gardens in Dar es Salaam a move that works in line with the Go Green Initiative, a campaign that promotes urban gardening and environmental conservation at large.
In its efforts to continue beautifying Dar es Salaam City, Exim Bank Tanzania is planning to extend its support which will see the bank maintaining different kinds of gardens across Dar es Salaam.
The bank, through its Dar City Beautification Campaign which kicked off earlier in 2012, plays a vital role in maintaining gardens that are mainly located in the heart of Dar es Salaam City.
The bank manages a total of three Gardens located at different places in the city, i.e Ohio Garden, Clock Tower Gardens, and Kariakoo Garden, so far the gardens managed by the bank have been a success that is why we are planning to extend this initiative and to maintain more gardens in the city,” said Mr. Dinesh Arora, the bank’s CEO.
“Dar es Salaam is the central hub of Tanzania’s commerce and business; this guarantees a handful of visitors in the city. Figures show that in 2013 Tanzania received a total of more than one million tourist visitors, most of whom passed through Dar es Salaam.
“So the beautification process of the city undertaken by Exim Bank aims at helping the Government initiatives to uplift the city’s image to visitors both within and outside the country,” he noted.
He added that the process on other hand gives an employment opportunity to the locals who get to be employed in various posts.
