DAR ES SALAAM, Tanzania – July 8, 2026 – Tanzania Breweries Public Limited Company (TBL) has been honoured with the Presidential Taxpayers Award in the Manufacturing Sector, recognising the company's outstanding contribution to Tanzania's economy through tax compliance, local manufacturing, investment and job creation.
The prestigious award was presented by Samia Suluhu Hassan during the 30th anniversary celebrations of the Tanzania Revenue Authority at the Mlimani City Conference Centre on Wednesday, July 1, 2026.
RECOGNITION OF RESPONSIBLE CORPORATE CITIZENSHIP
The President's decision to personally present the awards for the second consecutive year underscores the Government's commitment to promoting tax compliance and recognising businesses that play a vital role in financing Tanzania's socio-economic development.
For TBL, the recognition extends beyond tax contributions. The brewer continues to create significant economic value through employment, support for local farmers, partnerships with suppliers, and investments that benefit communities across the country.
TBL REAFFIRMS COMMITMENT TO TANZANIA'S DEVELOPMENT
Speaking after receiving the award, Michelle Kilpin, Managing Director of TBL, said the recognition reflects the company's unwavering commitment to responsible business practices and national development.
"We are deeply honoured to receive this recognition from Her Excellency the President. Paying our taxes in full and on time is our responsibility as a Tanzanian company and part of our contribution to the nation's development.
This award belongs to our employees, farmers, suppliers, retailers and partners across the value chain. We remain committed to growing with Tanzania and being a dependable partner in the country's progress."
SUPPORTING LOCAL AGRICULTURE AND ECONOMIC GROWTH
TBL's extensive manufacturing operations continue to generate value across multiple sectors of the Tanzanian economy, supporting farmers, transporters, retailers, distributors and thousands of small businesses.
Through its local sourcing programme for barley and sorghum, the company has strengthened agricultural value chains, improved farmer livelihoods and enhanced local content by retaining more economic value within Tanzania.
SUSTAINABILITY REMAINS A KEY PRIORITY
Beyond its economic contribution, TBL continues to invest in sustainable business practices through initiatives focused on water stewardship, farmer development, responsible sourcing, circular packaging and recycling.
The company's Legal and Corporate Affairs Director, Neema Temba, said responsible business should be measured not only by compliance but also by its long-term impact on society.
"Responsible business must be measured by both compliance and impact. This honour reflects a simple principle we hold to every day. We believe in doing business openly, meeting our obligations and standing alongside the country that has been our home for decades.
When companies pay what they owe, invest where they operate and protect the resources they depend on, the whole nation moves forward."
BUILDING A LEGACY OF RESPONSIBLE BUSINESS
The Presidential Taxpayers Award further strengthens TBL's growing record of national recognition for excellence in tax compliance, sustainability and responsible corporate citizenship.
As Tanzania continues its drive towards industrialisation and economic transformation, the brewer says it remains committed to expanding local investment, supporting communities, strengthening agricultural value chains and creating long-term value through responsible business practices.
