ABSA BANK URGES WOMEN TO AIM HIGH

A cross section of Absa Bank Tanzania women employees, accompanied by their male counterparts, participate in an eight-kilometre walk to mark the International Women’s Day celebrations in Dar es Salaam.

Women have been urged to motivate themselves, be strong and confident and strive to achieve their best in life instead of waiting to be pushed up in the ladder in their work places.

Absa Bank Tanzania’s Director of Legal and Compliance Irene Giattas, who also doubles as the President of Women’s Group at the bank said while commemorating the International Women’s Day in Dar es Salaam.

Themed, “Innovation in digital and technology” the bank commemorated Women’s Day by participating in an 8 kilometre charity walk signaling support for women’s health and development in the country and the world at large.

Ms Giattas said Absa Bank has been a good motivator of women to ensure they excel in their various positions and achieve their life ambitions.

“We have various positions being headed by women at Absa Bank Tanzania, this mean that the bank promotes women who believes and have what it takes to perform better at work,” she said.

She said women need to learn new things while at work and put extra efforts so that their work can be recognised in their various work positions.

According to her, women are able to do much more in their various professionals if given the opportunity, saying women need therefore to put extra efforts and push themselves up and apply for various positions just as President Samia Suluhu Hassan is doing, showing that women are able to do their best in leadership.

One of the employee with the bank, Ms Aikande Kimaro, who also participated a charity walk said she took the walk to appreciate women's capacity but also the power of women.
“This charity walk is also a part of exercises to keep our bodies feet and health,” she said.
