HISTORIC PAYMENT FOR STIEGLER'S GORGE PROJECT, AS CONTRACTORS RECEIVE ABOUT 700BN/- ADVANCE PAYMENT

According to Government Officials, this is the first time in history for such an amount to be pid for a huge project like this one. Egyptian contractors on the ambitious Rufiji hydropower project yesterday received 688.7bn/- advance payment, a decisive step towards the beginning of construction works.

The Government sealed the project deal with the Arab Contractors and El Sewedy Electric last December, expecting to generate 2,115 megawatts upon the scheme completion.
