Dar es Salaam 27th March 2017 - Bits & Bytes 2017 conference will be held in Dar es Salaam from 28th to 30th March where by a number of topics will be addressed.
Speaking in Dar es Salaam today, the conference
organizer, Lilian Secelela Madeje, Managing Director and Co-Founder of Bits
& Bytes said the conference will focuses on developing solutions for challenges faces Tanzanians in
different sectors such as Financial Technology (FinTech), Data, Agriculture,
Education and Health.
“Bits
& Bytes Tech Conference is an innovation and technology conference in
Tanzania
that is organised and run by Tanzanians and for young emerging
entrepreneurs,
students, visionaries and thought leaders.
During
the conference the Finnish Embassy
will
address the “Finland 100” agenda and how they are contributing towards
innovation in Tanzania.
Brings
together African and Finnish innovators in tech and education to organise
creative
coding workshops for youth across ten African countries between
February–May
2017. Through the project, Code Bus Africa hopes to inspire youth
to
discover and make use of technology in their lives, and empower especially
girls
to explore technology’s possibilities for their future.
With
the support of the Finnish Embassy, Bits and Bytes, BUNI Hub and Codebus Africa
will be running a coding session for girls during the 30th of March, 2017 at
the Bits and Bytes Innovation and Technology convention.

a population growth rate of 8% per year, Dar es Salaam is one of the fastest
growing
cities in sub-Sahara Africa. The city has over 70 percent of its 5 million
residents
living
in informal, unplanned settlements that lack adequate infrastructure and
services.
In
partnership with the East Africa Institute of the Aga Khan University, Bits and
Bytes
Innovation
and Tech convention is looking at holding a two-day Urban Planning
Challenge
Hack focused on design solutions for the urban planning challenge that Dar
es
Salaam city faces. This Urban Planning Challenge Hack will be in partnership
with
Ardhi
University and in collaboration of insights from Dar es Salaam City Council.
