HUAWEI KEEPS LEADING IN 5G PATENT LICENSE RANKING
Huawei's number of 5G standard essential patents (SEPs) continue to rank No. 1 in the world, according to Clarivate, a leading global IP consultancy, and analytics firm.
Clarivate’s latest report “Demystifying the 5G standard essential patent landscape: Phase 3” conducted a systematic study on 5G patents. The report shows that Huawei still ranked No. 1 with a patent family of 6,566 and the fastest growth rate.
SEPs are common in the telecommunications field. No company can avoid 5G SEPs if they want to design products that comply with 5G standards. For five straight years, Huawei has ranked No. 1 worldwide in terms of Patent Cooperation Treaty applications.
African countries are already benefiting from Huawei’s 5G patents, as several operators have already begun rolling out 5G with Huawei equipment to provide high-speed home and office broadband, as well as industry-specific solutions in mining, tourism, and other industries critical to Africa.

Lawrence Mafuru, ameihakikishia Benki ya Equity Group kwamba Serikali iko tayari kushirikiana na Benki hiyo kutekeleza Mpango Mkakati utakaowezesha upatikanaji wa zaidi ya shilingi trilioni 13 zilizopangwa kutolewa na Benki hiyo kuendeleza mipango mbalimbali ya maendeleo kikiwemo kilimo katika nchi za Afrika Mashariki.
Bw. Mafuru amesema hayo jijini Dodoma, alipokutana na kufanya mazungumzo na Ujumbe wa Benki hiyo yenye makao yake Makuu nchini Kenya.
Alisema kuwa Benki hiyo imedhamiria kuwekeza fedha katika maeneo sita ikiwemo sekta za kilimo, madini, uendelezaji wajasiliamali wadogo na wa kati, mazingira, utawala bora, viwanda na sekta ya biashara.
Bw. Mafuru alisema kuwa maeneo hayo ya miradi ya kimkakati yanakwenda sambamba na na ukuzaji wa mipango ya kitaifa ikiwemo sekta ya kilimo ili sekta hiyo iwe na tija zaidi kwa kuongeza uzalishaji wa mazao na kuyaongezea thamani.

MTONGANI PRIMARY SCHOOL PUPILS GET SET FOR A BRIGHTER FUTURE FOLLOWING THE SUPPORT EXTENDED BY I&M BANK
Dar es Salaam, Tuesday 7 June 2022 - Primary School Pupils at Mtongani Primary School in Temeke District, Dar es Salaam will be able to concentrate on their studies and learn in comfort after I&M Bank donated 100 desks (3 seaters) which accommodates 300 students, and 50 hearing devices for disabled pupils. This donation aimed at supporting government efforts in ensuring learning environments are improved day after day. In addition to the donation, the banks staff joined hands to support those pupils in need by extending various assistance such as pens and learning textbooks. JUBILEE HEALTH INSURANCE LAUNCHES A NEW CARDLESS HEALTH PRODUCT
Dar es Salaam, Tanzania (June 3, 2022) – Jubilee Health Insurance launched a new low-end product called Pamoja Afya, in Dar es Salaam.
The new product was unveiled at a launch event at the Onomo Hotel Dar es Salaam.
Speaking at the launch event the Mr. Eliezer Rweikiza, Communications and Relations Manager from Tanzania Insurance Regulatory Authority (TIRA) said that “Jubilee Health has done a very good thing to come up with this cardless product, even the Authority will find it easier to recommend people to buy your products”.
He said that “TIRA has set a target to ensure the implementation of insurance services reaches all Tanzanians, to promote the insurance market, to ensure 80% of Tanzanians have insurance coverage by 2028, and 50% of citizens have health insurance by 2028. Therefore, we urge Jubilee Health Insurance to create more products, come to TIRA and we will bless you”
Pamoja Afya is a low-end product designed to support government initiative on Universal Health Coverage by promoting accessibility of health insurance in rural areas to individual members, SACCOS, VICOBA etc., to increase awareness of health insurance which in turn will increase penetration level; the current insurance penetration level is less than 1%, and to encourage Tanzanians to incorporate health insurance as a means of risk management which in turn will increase life expectancy of a normal Tanzanian and allow access to better health services.
NMB BANK TO PAY OUT RECORD DIVIDENDS

The approved amount translates into a dividend per share of Sh193, which is a 41 percent increase compared to the dividend payout of Sh68.5 billion (Sh137 per share) that was paid last year from the lender’s 2020 net profit.
This marks the third consecutive annual increase in the company’s dividend. The dividend will be paid on or about 15th June 2022.
While the money to be shared among the bank’s shareholders is the highest to have ever been paid out by a financial entity in Tanzania, the NMB Bank Plc Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Ms Ruth Zaipuna paints an even more optimistic picture of the lender’s performance this year.
Ruth and her management team believe that 2022 will be an even better year for the lender, which is touted for its leadership position in the profitability of financial institutions in Tanzania.

Akizungumza katika hafla hiyo Dkt. Nchemba aliipongeza Benki ya NBC kwa kutoa gawio kwa Serikali na kuakisi mafanikio ya sera ya ubinafsishaji ya serikali iliyolenga kubinafsisha mashirika ya umma ili kuyaongezea tija na ufanisi.
“Serikali inajivunia mafanikio ya Benkl ya NBC kwani Benki hii ni moja ya mashirika ya kwanza kabisa kubinafisihwa nchini. Gawio hili la shilingi bilioni 4.5 mnalolitoa leo ni zaidi ya mara tatu ya gawio mlilotoa mara mwisho, hiki ni kiashiria tosha kwa Serikali kuwa Benki yetu ya NBCipo katika mstari sahihi”, alisema Dkt. Nchemba.
Waziri Nchemba pia alipongeza Benki ya NBC kwa matokeo mazuri ya fedha ambapo ilipata faida ya shilingi bilionin 60 ambalo ni ongezeko la asilimia 702 kwa matokeo ya mwaka 2020. Vilevile, Waziri Nchemba alipongeza jitihada za Benki ya NBC katika kuchangia maendeleo ya Taifa ikiwamo ulipaji wa kodi ambapo mwaka jana ililipa jumla ya shilingi bilioni 20 kama kodi.

CYBERSECURITY CHALLENGES IN TODAY’S DIGITAL ERA
Today many organizations are in the midst of digital transformation. Operations and other essential functions and business processes are being digitized or done digitally. In fact, many end to end operations had to done remotely as the onset of Covid19 in 2020 which became a catalyst for digital transformation. Many organizations’ discovered new ways of working and did get substantial operational cost savings and profited while others closed because they could not operate digitally or online.
As more organizations’ come on board the digital transformation band wagon a major area of concern is cybersecurity. Cybersecurity continues to be one of the top five risks an organization needs to resolve, more so in the fast moving pace of the 4th Industrial revolution of which we are now living. In this era everything is connected through the web or internet and it amplifies the need to have strong cybersecurity practices.
Cybersecurity is, “the protection of software, hardware, and data resources that are connected and store in an organization or even at home”. It involves the protection of the personal, financial data, commercial data, business-critical information, operational continuity, data integrity, and availability of online software or business and customer systems. Other components include regulating the physical access, controlling malicious intrusion, allowing authorized access, encrypting the valuable information and safeguarding the privacy.
Cybersecurity relates to the technological processes and procedures to keep the valuable data and software resources safe and secure from the external threats emerging through the Internet, physical security of hardware and data centers together with software source code and intellectual property are also components of cybersecurity both directly and indirectly.

The African Development Fund (ADF) has celebrated 50 years of driving socioeconomic development in Africa’s most fragile countries.
Held during the African Development Bank Group’s Annual Meetings—23 to 27 May—the event brought together beneficiaries and donors to speak about the impact and performance of the Fund. It also featured live performance and video.
Ana Monteiro, an environmental project coordinator from Cabo Verde, testified to the African Development Bank Group’s role as anchor investor for Cabeólica Wind Power, a public-private project to harness the country’s abundant wind power. The company currently operates 30 wind turbines that generate nearly 30% of the island country’s energy needs.
Selina Avevor, a member of Kobiman women’s association in rural Ghana, appeared in person to discuss the training centre, water tank and 20-bed accommodation financed by the African Development Fund. Owing to this support, women in the community have gained the skills to produce liquid soap, bags, jewellery and other products and to earn a livelihood.
During a panel discussion, donors to the Fund expressed consensus about the importance and strategic impact of the Fund.
“The ADF has produced tremendous development results for the continent over the past 50 years. It’s been a critical partner for the United States and other donors who want to come and be partners in Africa and an African-led vision for stable, sustainable growth,” said Jessica Isaacs, Senior Advisor to the U.S Director, African Development Bank.
TADB YAENDESHA WARSHA YA UWEZESHAJI JINSIA NA VIJANA KIUCHUMI
Benki ya Maendeleo ya Kilimo Tanzania (TADB) imeandaa mpango mkakati wa kuwawezesha kiuchumi wanawake na vijana kwa kushirikiana na Kituo cha Uwekezaji kijulikanacho kama Investment Climate Reform Facility (ICR).
Mkakati huu umeanza na warsha ya mashauriano baina ya TADB na ICR ili kujadili juu ya mpango wa kuwainua kupitia misaada mingine muhimu inayohitajika ili kuwainua kiuchumi wanawake na vijana kwenye kilimo.
Juhudi za TADB zinalenga kwa makusudi katika kuziba pengo la kiuchumi kati ya wanawake na vijana, kwani takwimu za Finscope zinaonyesha kuwa asilimia 50 ya nguvu kazi lakini hawajajumuishwa katika sekta rasmi ya fedha, na asilimia 6 tu ya wanawake hawana akaunti za benki huku benki na asilimia 26 pekee ya vijana wakiwa wakulima.
TADB imeanzisha warsha hii ili kupata utaalamu zaidi wa kiufundi kutoka kwa Kituo cha ICR kinachofadhiliwa na Umoja wa Ulaya ambapo mpango huu unalenga kuifahamisha TADB na taasisi nyingine za fedha kuhusu hatua zinazopaswa kuchukuliwa ili kuongeza ushirikishwaji wa kifedha miongoni mwa wanawake na vijana katika sekta ya kilimo.

Mil. 50 na bima kubwa ya gari, pamoja na bima ya safari. Kushoto ni Afisa Mtendaji Mkuu wa Startimes, Luo Hao na kulia ni Mkuu wa Kitengo cha Wateja Binafsi wa benki hiyo, Stephen Adili.

Waandaji wa shindano la Miss Tanzania kampuni ya ‘The Look’ kwa kushirikiana na wadhamini wa shindano hilo Startimes, Benki ya CRDB, na kampuni za bima za Sanlam na Strategis, wamekabidhi zawadi kwa walimbwende walioingia katika tano bora katika kinyang’anyiro cha Miss Tanzania 2022 ambapo mlimbwende Halima Kopwe kutoka Mtwara aliibuka kidedea. Mashindano hayo yalifikia kilele mnamo Tarehe 20 Mwezi Mei 2022.
Akizungumza katika hafla ya kukabidhi zawadi iliyofanyika Makao Makuu ya Benki ya CRDB yaliyopo barabara ya Ali Hassan Mwinyi Jijini Dar es Salaam, Mwenyekiti wa kamati ya Miss Tanzania Azama Mashango alisema zawadi, hizo ni sehemu ya ahadi ambazo zilitolewa kwa washiriki wa shindano hilo, huku akiwashukuru wadhamini wote waliojitokeza kufanikisha Miss Tanzania 2022.

Mr. Rughani has served as Chairman of the CEOrt Board since 2018, becoming the second person to hold that position from the time the forum was formally registered. He was elected by the Board of Directors to succeed the late Mr. Ali Mufuruki. With invaluable insight, he has demonstrated outstanding leadership and helped steer the organization through a period of tremendous growth.
During his leadership at the CEOrt, Mr. Rughani played an integral role in launching the CEO Apprenticeship Programme, the flagship leadership initiative - a national capacity building effort to build visionary CEOs of the future. He was also instrumental in cementing the organization’s commitment to ethical leadership and anti-corruption, where 100% of its members have now signed the National Integrity Pledge. With the CEOrt’s bold commitment to championing the climate change agenda, Mr. Rughani was at the forefront of driving sustainable business practices, leading by example and often speaking up about the private sector responsibility in the matter. In addition, during his tenure as Chairman, the CEO Roundtable registered unprecedented membership growth with over 40% increase in membership.
