Dar es Salaam; October 10, 2026 - Stanbic Bank Tanzania has donated medical equipment and supplies worth TZS 40 million to Vijibweni Hospital in Kigamboni, Dar es Salaam, to strengthen healthcare delivery, improve maternal care and enhance patient monitoring and diagnostic services.

The donation, handed over on Friday, October 9, 2026, is part of the Bank’s continued commitment to supporting community development and improving access to essential services.

The equipment includes five hospital beds, a delivery bed, 15 bedside lockers, a linen hamper, a patient monitor, two oxygen flow meters and 30 digital blood pressure machines. The contribution also covers infection control supplies and computer equipment to support hospital administration and record-keeping.

The donated items are expected to help healthcare professionals improve patient care, particularly in the maternity unit and hospital wards. The additional beds will support mothers and admitted patients, while the patient monitor will strengthen the observation of critical cases. The digital blood pressure machines will also expand access to routine screening across the facility.

Speaking during the handover, Stanbic Bank Tanzania’s Head of Personal and Private Banking, Mr. Omari Mtiga, reaffirmed the Bank’s commitment to improving community well-being through investments in essential services.

“Access to quality healthcare is essential to building healthier, stronger and more productive communities. At Stanbic Bank, we believe our responsibility extends beyond financial services to making a meaningful difference in the lives of the people we serve,” Mr. Mtiga said.

He added that the contribution aims to equip healthcare professionals with the tools needed to provide timely and effective care, particularly to mothers and families who depend on the hospital’s services.

Mr. Mtiga noted that supporting initiatives of this nature reflects the Bank’s commitment to going the extra mile and creating lasting value for the communities it serves.

Receiving the donation on behalf of the Government, Kigamboni District Commissioner, Hon. Dalmia Mikaya, thanked Stanbic Bank Tanzania for its support, noting that the district’s rapid growth has increased demand for healthcare services.

“Kigamboni is growing quickly, and our health facilities are serving far more people than they were built for. Equipment of this kind reaches the patient directly. We thank Stanbic Bank for returning to Kigamboni and for working with us to close these gaps,” she said.

Kigamboni District Medical Officer, Dr. Lucas Ngamtwa, said the equipment would strengthen the hospital’s daily operations by improving routine screening, maternal care and patient monitoring.

He explained that the new equipment would enable healthcare workers to conduct more assessments at the facility, provide better care to mothers and monitor patients more effectively, improving both the quality and timeliness of services offered to Kigamboni residents.

The latest contribution builds on Stanbic Bank Tanzania’s previous community development initiatives in the district. Through its Stanbic Madawati Initiative, the Bank donated 150 desks worth TZS 20 million to Ufukoni Primary School and planted 150 trees in Kigamboni.

The handover ceremony was attended by Vijibweni Ward Councillor, Mr. Nicholas Mranda; Acting District Administrative Secretary, Ms. Agusta Safari; representatives of Vijibweni Hospital management; and members of the Stanbic Bank Tanzania team.

Through its continued investment in healthcare, education and environmental initiatives, Stanbic Bank Tanzania is contributing to efforts to improve community well-being and support more sustainable local development.
