DIAMOND TRUST BANK AND LIONS CLUBS LEAD ENVIRONMENTAL INITIATIVE WITH 200 TREES PLANTED

Leaders of Lions and Leo Clubs DSM, Lions Club DSM Sky, and Caravan Cricket Club, together with DTB Tanzania representatives, ahead of the tree-planting initiative.

Dar es Salaam, Tanzania — November 22, 2025:
In a powerful display of community collaboration and environmental responsibility, Diamond Trust Bank Tanzania PLC (DTB) joined forces with Lions Club DSM Host, Leo Club DSM Host, Lions Club DSM Sky, and Caravan Cricket Club to champion environmental conservation through a large-scale tree-planting initiative.

The partnership reflects DTB’s ongoing commitment to sustainability, climate action, and community empowerment—core pillars in the bank’s corporate social responsibility (CSR) agenda.

200 Trees Planted for a Greener Future

The activity took place at Songoro Mnyonge Secondary School in Mbezi Salasala, where 200 tree saplings were planted within the school’s compound. Each sapling represented a step toward combating deforestation, restoring ecological balance, and promoting cleaner, healthier communities.

Tree planting remains one of the most impactful climate-action activities, and DTB’s effort reinforces the role of financial institutions in supporting national and global sustainability commitments.

Environmental Education for Students

Beyond planting trees, the initiative emphasized the importance of building a culture of environmental stewardship. After the exercise, 100 students were served refreshments and participated in an educational session covering:

  • The importance of conserving natural resources
  • How daily habits—such as reducing waste and conserving water—contribute to sustainability
  • The long-term benefits of protecting and expanding green spaces

This session aimed to empower young people with practical knowledge and inspire them to become future champions of environmental conservation.

Collaboration that Drives Impact

The success of the event was made possible through the dedication and support of donors, community leaders, and all participating partners. Their collective effort not only delivered a meaningful environmental impact but also strengthened the culture of teamwork and shared responsibility in addressing climate change.

The initiative leaves behind more than just newly planted trees—it marks a lasting legacy of awareness, education, and action toward a greener Tanzania.
