A FINISH WRITTEN IN NUMBERS: TANZANIA TRIUMPHS AT THE 2025 NCBA GOLF SERIES IN NAIROBI

Tanzania’s Nsajigwa Mwansasu (left) receives a gift from NCBA Bank Kenya Chairman Isaac Awuondo after emerging as the Division 1 champion of the 2025 NCBA Golf Series Finale in Nairobi over the weekend.

The 2025 NCBA Golf Series climaxed in a display of discipline, courage, and regional pride at the iconic Muthaiga Golf Club in Nairobi. After months of competition across four East African nations—Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, and Rwanda—the grand finale showcased not only the depth of talent in the region but also Tanzania’s growing authority in the sport.

Following 38 qualifier events and countless hours on the fairway, Tanzania’s Nsajigwa Mwansasu emerged victorious in the Division 1 Championship, etching a historic milestone in the country’s golfing journey.

Muthaiga is a course that leaves no room for error. Its fast greens, punishing roughs, and the intense pressure of the final make it a true test of skill and composure. Yet, from the first tee-off, Tanzania’s trio—Nsajigwa Mwansasu, Asha Rashidi, and Victoria Taiko—exuded a calm confidence born from months of deliberate preparation. Their journey to Nairobi had spanned courses in Lugalo, Zanzibar, Morogoro, Moshi, and beyond, each event sharpening their rhythm and resilience.

For Nsajigwa, the finale was more than a tournament; it was the culmination of strategy, precision, and mental fortitude. He navigated the course with intelligence—selecting safer landing zones when necessary, taking calculated risks at the right moments, and maintaining composure under pressure. When he sank the final putt, the cheers around the green marked the reward of consistent effort, perfectly capturing the ethos of Maisha ni Hesabu—life is calculated, success is deliberate.

Asha Rashidi and Victoria Taiko added depth, balance, and determination to Tanzania’s campaign. Their confident swings, intuitive reads, and consistent performance on challenging holes highlighted the rising talent in Tanzanian women’s golf. More than competitors, they embodied the promise of a growing sporting ecosystem, representing their country with pride and professionalism.

The finale also reflected how far the NCBA Golf Series has grown in just five years. What began as a regional competition has evolved into a talent pipeline, community platform, and showcase of East African excellence. With over 100 finalists and thousands of golfers engaged across 38 qualifiers, the numbers tell a story of scale—but the heart of the series lies in the journey: early mornings, nervous swings, comebacks, and lessons learned course by course.

Reflecting on Tanzania’s performance, Solomon Kawiche, Senior Marketing Manager at NCBA, said:

“This victory is bigger than a trophy. It represents the growth of Tanzanian golf, the discipline of our players, and the power of consistent investment in talent. Nsajigwa, Asha, and Victoria have shown what becomes possible when opportunity meets hard work. Every stroke, every lesson, every chance to compete contributes to a story of progress. Today, that story belongs to Tanzania.”

Beyond the competition, the finale highlighted NCBA’s commitment to strengthening golf in the region. With quarterly junior tournaments, expanded partnerships in sports development, and a focus on nurturing talent at all levels, the future of golf in East Africa looks especially bright. The NCBA Golf Series is more than a tournament—it’s a journey, and Nairobi was only one milestone.

As the sun set behind the Muthaiga treeline, one truth was clear: Tanzania did not just participate—they arrived, competed, and conquered. Their victory signals a new chapter for the nation’s golfers, one where opportunity feels bigger, confidence runs deeper, and the numbers of their progress continue to add up. The regional stage is theirs to shape, and this finale is just the beginning.
