Dar es Salaam, Tanzania – Customers in Tanzania booking flights with flydubai can now pay conveniently using local mobile money services, following the expansion of the airline’s partnership with Network International.
The move simplifies the booking process while boosting Tanzania’s growing mobile money ecosystem. It also makes Tanzania the third East African market, after Kenya and Uganda, to enable mobile money payments for flydubai services — marking another milestone in expanding digital payment accessibility across the region.
Local Payment Options
Travellers in Tanzania can now use Mixx by Yas and Airtel Money to pay for flights booked directly via the flydubai website or mobile app. This development responds to the increasing demand for localized, secure, and cashless payment experiences among Tanzanian travellers.
Industry Leaders Speak
Judy Waruiru, Regional Managing Director for East Africa at Network International, noted:
“This continued collaboration gives flydubai customers even greater flexibility by enabling secure, seamless mobile money payments alongside traditional cards. As mobile payments gain momentum, especially in East Africa, we’re proud to be at the forefront, enhancing customer convenience while driving innovation.”
Sudhir Sreedharan, Divisional Senior Vice President of Commercial Operations (UAE, GCC, Africa and South Asia) at flydubai, added:
“Our collaboration with Network International builds on the success we’ve already seen in Kenya and Uganda. It reflects our commitment to giving customers more choice and flexibility in their booking and payment options. We look forward to further promoting local payment systems beyond the region and ensuring a convenient travel experience from the moment our passengers choose flydubai.”
