Dar es Salaam, Tanzania — Absa Bank Tanzania has reaffirmed that excellence in customer service is deeply embedded in its culture and reflected in its daily operations.
Speaking during the closing ceremony of the bank’s 2025 Customer Service Week, Absa’s Managing Director, Mr. Obedi Laiser, highlighted the financial institution’s unwavering commitment to delivering exceptional customer experiences. He noted that this year’s global theme, “Mission: Possible,” strongly aligns with Absa’s purpose — “Empowering Africa’s tomorrow, together… one story at a time” — and its brand promise, “Your Story Matters.”
“Most organizations treat Customer Service Week as a ‘show’; at Absa, it is lived every day,” said Mr. Laiser. “Customer service is embedded in our culture; it’s not an act but a way of doing business. Our customers are at the heart of everything we do, and this campaign rewards their loyalty while promoting safer and more efficient ways of transacting.”
Play Your Cards Right Campaign
Mr. Laiser also announced the first winners of the bank’s new campaign, Play Your Cards Right (Ujanja ni kuSwipe na Kadi ya Absa), launched last week to encourage customers to adopt safe, secure, fast, and convenient digital payment channels. The campaign will award TZS 120 million in cash prizes over three months.

The campaign will include a total of 72 weekly winners, 9 monthly winners (TZS 10m, 5m, and 3m each), and a Grand Winner at the end of three months, who will receive TZS 30 million. All prizes are in cash.
Recognition for Service Excellence
Absa Bank Tanzania was recently recognized by Consumer Choice Awards Africa as the bank offering the most friendly and tranquil loan services in Tanzania, further underscoring its commitment to service excellence.
Mr. Laiser thanked Absa staff for living the brand promise and delivering exceptional customer experiences, and expressed gratitude to customers for their loyalty. He encouraged customers to continue transacting through Absa cards and digital channels for a chance to win cash prizes.
