Dar es Salaam, Tanzania:
Absa Bank Tanzania has reaffirmed its commitment to empowering women entrepreneurs by partnering with ASA Microfinance Tanzania to deliver a financial literacy and business management training program aimed at strengthening entrepreneurial capacity among women across the country.

The training, held over the weekend in Dar es Salaam, brought together women entrepreneurs who are members of ASA Microfinance Tanzania. It focused on personal financial management, business planning, and effective resource utilization — key components for ensuring long-term business sustainability and growth.

Speaking during the session, Absa Bank Tanzania Citizenship and Events Manager, Ms. Abigail Lukuvi, emphasized that the initiative aligns with Absa’s broader purpose of Empowering Africa’s Tomorrow, Together, One Story at a Time, under the brand message “Your Story Matters.” She noted that Absa’s partnership with ASA Microfinance demonstrates the bank’s dedication to supporting entrepreneurs, especially women, through access to knowledge and financial inclusion.

At Absa, we believe that empowering women entrepreneurs through financial education is one of the most effective ways to build resilient communities and drive sustainable economic growth,” Ms. Lukuvi said.

On his part, ASA Microfinance Tanzania Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Muhammed Shah Newaj, highlighted the importance of collaboration between financial institutions in driving entrepreneurship. He commended Absa for its support and shared that ASA Microfinance remains committed to creating more opportunities for women to access training, funding, and mentorship.

The seminar also featured financial trainer, Mr. Edmund Munyagi, who led a session on Personal Financial Management, offering participants practical tools and insights to manage their finances effectively and make informed business decisions.

Participants actively engaged in discussions, shared experiences, and celebrated the partnership, which they described as timely and transformative.

The event concluded with a symbolic group photo featuring Ms. Lukuvi, ASA Microfinance staff, and women entrepreneurs — reflecting the spirit of collaboration and empowerment that defines both institutions’ missions.

This initiative marks another step forward in Absa Bank Tanzania’s ongoing efforts to empower entrepreneurs nationwide, reinforcing its belief that every story matters and every empowered entrepreneur contributes to shaping Africa’s brighter future.
