Dar es Salaam, 15 July 2025 – The Board of Directors of CRDB Bank Plc is pleased to announce the appointment of Prof. Neema Munisi Mori as Board Chairperson, and Dr. Donald Eliapenda Mmari as Vice Chairperson of the Board of CRDB Bank Group.
These appointments reaffirm the Bank’s ongoing commitment to exemplary corporate governance, inclusive leadership, and sustainable growth across the region.
Prof. Neema Munisi Mori – Board Chairperson
Prof. Mori is a seasoned academic, visionary leader, and corporate governance expert with over 20 years of experience in finance, banking, entrepreneurship, and leadership development. She currently serves as an Associate Professor of Finance and Director of Public Services at the University of Dar es Salaam.
Her contribution to CRDB Bank has been instrumental, having previously served as:
- Vice Chairperson of the Board
- Chairperson of the Credit Committee
- Member of the Risk Committee
- Member of the Governance, Nomination and Human Resources Committee
Beyond CRDB, Prof. Mori also serves as Chairperson of the Board for BRELA and Air Tanzania Company Ltd, and is a founding member of several programs aimed at empowering youth and women in leadership and business. She is a widely published researcher in international journals and is highly regarded as a mentor in business, finance, and entrepreneurship.
Her academic credentials include:
- PhD in International Business – University of Agder, Norway
- MBA and Bachelor’s in Finance – University of Dar es Salaam
- Certification in Company Direction – Institute of Directors (UK)
Prof. Mori brings to the role a unique blend of scholarly depth, governance acumen, and a passion for sustainable development in Africa’s financial sector.
Dr. Donald Eliapenda Mmari – Vice Chairperson
Dr. Mmari is a distinguished economist and institutional strategist with over 30 years of experience in economic research, policy development, and corporate leadership. He currently serves as the Executive Director of REPOA, a leading Tanzanian think tank focused on socio-economic transformation.
Dr. Mmari has held key roles in:
- Ernst & Young
- CRDB Bank
- TPDC
- The Institute of Tax Administration
- The Presidential Trust Fund
Currently, he chairs:
- The Council of Kairuki University
- The Board of the College of Social Sciences and Humanities at the Sokoine University of Agriculture (SUA)
At CRDB Bank, he also serves as:
- Chair of the Executive Committee
- Member of the Credit Committee
- Member of the Governance, Nomination and HR Committee
His academic background includes:
- PhD in Economics – Erasmus University Rotterdam
- MBA – University of Oregon
- Bachelor's and Master's in Economics – University of Dar es Salaam
Dr. Mmari brings strategic foresight, policy expertise, and extensive boardroom experience that will be vital in the Bank's regional aspirations.
