CNN) - When a dark green train adorned with yellow stripes was spotted traveling toward Beijing on Monday, rumors began to swirl that North Korean leader Kim Jong Un was on board.

Those rumors were later confirmed and pictures began to emerge showing Kim on his first foreign trip since assuming power in 2011, meeting with China's President Xi Jinping and other high-level Chinese officials.

North Korea's official Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) has now published footage revealing new details of the historic trip.

The train -- which appears to be the same one used by Kim's father and grandfather -- made its first stop Sunday in China at Dandong, a city close to the border and around 840 kilometers (520 miles) from Beijing by road.

A group of Chinese officials met the train at Dandong and boarded one of the carriages to greet Kim, who was seen smiling and posing for the cameras as he was handed a bouquet of flowers, which were then passed to his wife Ri Sol Ju.
Along with Kim and his wife, the North Korean delegation included leading members of the Workers' Party of Korea Central Committee.

The Chinese officials who boarded the train included China's ambassador to North Korea, Li Jinjun, and the head of the International Liaison Department of the Communist Party's Central Committee, Song Tao, according to KCNA.

TOP PANGANI, UJIJI OFFICIALS SUSPENDED

Minister of State in the President’s Office responsible for Regional Administration and Local Governments, Mr Suleiman Jaffo.
The Pangani and Kigoma - Ujiji District Executive Directors (DEDs) were suspended on Tuesday  in compliance with a directive issued by President John magufuli.

The suspension was announced by the Minister of State in the President’s Office responsible for Regional Administration and Local Governments, Mr Suleiman Jaffo. It was prompted by the Controller and Auditor General (CAG) issuing qualified (unsatisfactory) audit reports for them.

Dr Magufuli also instructed the Prime Minister, Mr Kassim Majaliwa, to convene a meeting with all ministers to discuss and address concerns and recommendations highlighted in the CAG audit reports for the 2016/2017 financial year.

Speaking after receiving annual audit reports for that financial year, the Head of State assured the CAG, Prof Mussa Assad, that responsible state organs would act decisively on all the recommendations of the major oversight organ.

“The two district executive directors should be suspended pending further investigations; we must take actions on issues raised by the CAG. I believe that Prof Assad’s office did not implicate the councils out of malice,” he stated. President Magufuli voiced the sentiments at the State House in Dar es Salaam on Tuesday, after receiving the audit reports. The report covers the central government, local government authorities, public organisations and development projects, among others.

WE ARE STABLE ON THE DEBT FRONT - PRESIDENT JOHN MAGUFULI

President John Magufuli receives a report from the Controller and Auditor General (CAG), Professor Mussa Assad at State House in Dar es Salaam on Tuesday.
  • At 50.9trl/-, it is 33.5 pc against GDP, below international sustainability levels
Tanzania’s national debt which currently stands at 50.9trl/- as of January this year is still maintainable at 33.5 per cent against the country’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP), and remains below international sustainability levels, President John Magufuli, reiterated on Tuesday.

What is more, the Head of State explained further that the country boasts of foreign reserves amounting to 5 billion US dollars, which is sufficient to purchase goods and services for six months, above the convergence criteria agreed in the East African Community (EAC) at 4.5 months.

“Our debt is still sustainable and we can even borrow more for development projects; there are some nations, some of which are branded first world countries, whose national debts are 200 per cent more compared to their GDPs,” Dr Magufuli explained, adding: ” It is not bad to borrow for development projects.

In fact, some of the financial institutions which used to lend us funds at 7 per cent are now settling for less than 3 per cent. Our negotiation muscle has significantly improved.” President Magufuli made the remarks in Dar e Salaam on Tuesday  after the Controller and Auditor General (CAG), Prof Mussa Assad, expressed concern over the trend of rising national debt which stood at 46trl/- as of June 30, 2017.
