“TSN is actively taking part in transforming the growth effects of knowledge to society,” he said, after inking a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Universal Communications Service Access Fund (UCSAF).
TSN which publishes the Daily News, Sunday News, HabariLeo, HabariLeo Jumapili and SpotiLeo, and UCSAF signed a two-year deal worth over 400m/- after successful completion of a contract signed last year.
With the partnership, TSN will now publish education materials in primary and secondary school education, special supplements, features articles on science and technology and dissemination of information on communication access across the country.
“… we will not only provide information … but also necessary knowledge economy to society as a tool to transforming and improving living standards,” he said.
The UCSAF chief executive, Peter Ulanga, commended TSN efforts at transforming to media service provider, saying it reflects a global trend of the information and media industry.
“The TSN transformation move will add value to the partnership renewed today after successful completion of the one year deal,” he said. He pointed out that Tanzania as a whole should take an active role in the knowledge economy, in itself an important tool in the process of poverty eradication.
