1st August 2017 - Diamond Trust Bank Tanzania Limited (DTB Tanzania), officially inaugurated its 27th branch, situated at Uhuru Street, Kariakoo in Dar es Salaam on 01st August 2017. Uhuru Branch is the 13th branch of DTB Tanzania in Dar es Salaam City.
The Minister of State in the Vice President Office Hon. January Makamba, while inaugurating the branch, congratulated Diamond Trust Bank for its contribution in expanding banking facilities across the country.
“The Bank has a clear focus in supporting the SME sector of the economy, a segment that is very important for the growth and economic sustainability of the nation. The Bank has also been opening branches consistently over the past many years directly contributing to greater financial inclusion.”
Diamond Trust Bank Tanzania Country Manager and CEO, Mr. Viju Cherian said, “DTB has a proud legacy of 71 years as a financial institution in Tanzania. As a prime bank having obtained the banking license in 1997, the Bank has aimed at being an exemplary corporate citizen and has been recording consistently higher business levels year on year. The opening of this branch at Uhuru Street, Kariakoo is just another step in the branch expansion plan. In the next 12 months, we aim to open 2 more branches bringing the total network of 30 in Tanzania”.
DTB widely recognized as the fastest growing bank in the country has earned a reputation for quick and efficient banking. The total Assets of the Bank crossed the TZS 1 Trillion mark in 2017. The Bank with 14 branches outside Dar es Salaam has been active in assistance to Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs). The total lending to SMEs is around TZS 275 billion comprising 43% of the loan portfolio.
DTBT has a network of 28 branches in Tanzania, 14 branches in Dar es Salaam (Jamat Street, Masaki, Morocco, Magomeni, Mbezi, Mbagala, Nyerere Road, Kariakoo, Nelson Mandela Road, Upanga, CBD, Mbezi Chini, Uhuru Street (Kariakoo) and Mlimani City, Upcountry Branches include 2 at Arusha and Mwanza and 1 each at Zanzibar, Dodoma, Tanga, Mbeya, Moshi, Iringa, Morogoro, Tabora, Kahama and Mtwara.
