GLAMOUR AS EXIM BANK TANZANIA CELEBRATES 18TH ANNIVERSARY

Dar es Salaam, August 18, 2015. Exim Bank Tanzania has entered its 18th year of operation in the country while promising to continue striving to perform its best in the current competitive market.

The bank, which is a local Tanzanian bank began operations on 15th August, 1997 with a single branch at Samora Avenue, in Dar es Salaam to date boasts of a network of 30 branches in Tanzania and 7 outside the country with the bank’s total assets crossing the Tshs 1.1 trillion milestones as at June this year. The bank has a total footprint of 57 ATM’s in Tanzania, over 250 points of sales and is present in 16 regions of the country serving over 180,000 customers.

Recently speaking during a function held at the bank’s headquarters in Dar es Salaam that brought together some the bank’s customers and staff, the Bank’s Chief Finance Officer Mr. Selemani Ponda said the bank has currently built a strong foundation through the support of its board and shareholders.

“This is the day we opened the bank 18 years ago. Today Exim bank has helped to grow businesses across and outside the country, and I’m glad that many of those we have supported could make it along to share in our anniversary celebrations,’’ he said.

According to Mr. Ponda, the bank has incredibly experienced teams dedicated to sharing their know-how and expertise with owner managed businesses of all sizes alongside the bank’s support for its clients.

“This event which was celebrated across all our 30 branches concurrently allows us to reflect on our focus which is firmly on continuing to work tirelessly to support local businesses and the wider community.” He added

Further explaining Mr. Ponda said Africa is now looked at internationally as the centre point of creating new investments. With the support of the Exim Bank’s employees, the bank has got a platform to flourish, and an opportunity to grow further.

Speaking during the occasion, The bank’s Chief Risk Officer Mr. David Lusala said: “Since the day we were opened our doors eighteen years ago, Exim Bank has been focused on helping area businesses and families achieve their financial goals.’’

According to him, while so many things have changed over the period, the bank’s commitment to knowing its clients, understanding their needs and delivering the right products and services has never wavered. Exim Bank was the first in the country to have an affiliation with MasterCard International, pioneered mobile ATM and will soon be launching the Public Issue of Exim Retail Bonds.

“Exim Bank was the first local bank to extend its footprint beyond Tanzanian borders having successfully opened subsidiaries in 'Union of Comoros' and 'Republic of Djibouti,’’ he proudly said.
