DAR BOURSE ENDS ON A HIGH AS TBL, TCC SHINE

The Dar es Salaam Stock Exchange (DSE) total turnover ended on high note after increasing to 54.22bn/- compared with the previous period of 23.73bn/-.
According to Zan Securities Limited Weekly Market Wrapups, the market dominated by two counters, TBL and TCC with contribution of 59.67 per cent and 37.76 per cent respectively.
The Tanzania share Index (TSI) capped at 4,357.04 points closed high by 2.02 per cent compared with the 4,270.69 points posted last week.
The Industrial and Allied index rose by 4.94 per cent, Commercial Services 1.63 per cent, while Banks, Finance and Investment index ended on a negative note of 0.20 per cent.
All Share Index (DSEI) closed at 2,404.06 points down by 0.31 per cent compared with the 2,411.48 points recorded a week earlier. According to Tanzania Securities Limited Weekly Market Commentary, the Banking segment was less active than the Industrial and Allied segment. It contributed 6 per cent of the total turnover and 33 per cent of the market activity.
The CRDB counter maintained its lead on the banking segment as it traded 1,533,327 shares at a price of 320/-. NMB had 113,006 shares that exchanged hands during the week at prices of 4,160/- and 4,150/- per share.
The Industrial and Allied Segment posted a higher turnover and volume compared to the previous week. TBL was the most active counter in the Industrial sector trading 2,026,635 shares and closed a price of 13,710/- per share.
TCC followed with 1,305,160 shares transacted at prices of 13,120/-, 13,390/- and 13,210/- per share. Twiga counter had 106,307 shares transacted closing the week higher at 3,200/- per share. Swissport counter traded 14,653 shares at prices of 2,820/-; 2,860/- and 2,880/- per share.
Simba counter had 10,050 shares traded at a price of 3,050/- per share. TOL had 1,050 shares transacted at a price of 480/- per share. There were no activities on the PAL, SWALA and TTP counters during the week.
The total market capitalization index sustained a negative move of 0.47 per cent, while domestic market capitalization recorded an upward trend by of 2.07 per cent.
It is anticipate that in the coming weeks, most of local listed companies to be active and price increase in some of equities both in main market and Enterprise Growth Market (EGM) window
