DAR ES SALAAM STOCK EXCHANGE CEO PARTICIPATES IN ZANZIBAR PUBLIC INSTITUTIONS LEADERSHIP FORUM

Zanzibar, 23 May 2026 - The Chief Executive Officer of the Dar es Salaam Stock Exchange (DSE), Mr. Peter Nalitolela, has participated in the opening of the Public Institutions Chairpersons and Chief Executives Forum held at the Golden Tulip Airport Hotel in Zanzibar.

The high-level forum, which brought together Board Chairpersons and Chief Executives of Zanzibar Public Institutions, was officially opened by the President of Zanzibar and Chairman of the Revolutionary Council, H.E. Dr. Hussein Ali Mwinyi. The meeting took place from May 23 to 25, 2026, and focused on strengthening institutional performance, improving efficiency, and enhancing financial sustainability among public entities.

Speaking during the opening session, President Dr. Mwinyi called on leaders of public institutions to implement operational reforms that will increase productivity, reduce dependency on the Central Government, and enable institutions to generate dividends for the Government.

Dr. Mwinyi emphasized that Zanzibar’s development agenda would gain greater momentum through stronger collaboration with the private sector. He pointed to the banking industry as an example of successful institutions that have demonstrated strong growth, profitability, and significant dividend contributions to the Government.

Our institutions should learn from successful private sector models, especially private banks that continue to demonstrate efficiency, profitability, and strong dividend contributions to the Government,” said Dr. Mwinyi.

The participation of the Dar es Salaam Stock Exchange in the forum highlights the importance of capital markets in supporting institutional transformation, promoting financial discipline, and facilitating long-term investment and sustainable economic growth.

The forum also provided a platform for leaders of public institutions to exchange experiences, discuss governance and operational challenges, and explore opportunities for improving institutional performance in line with Zanzibar’s broader economic development objectives.
