Dodoma, March 30, 2026 – Telecommunications company Yas Tanzania has officially opened a new retail store at the Standard Gauge Railway (SGR) Dodoma Station, enhancing access to communication and financial services for residents and travelers.

The new outlet is strategically located to serve both Dodoma residents and passengers using the SGR, offering faster, more convenient access to a wide range of digital services. The initiative underscores Yas’ commitment to simplifying daily transactions, supporting small businesses, and driving digital inclusion.

Expanding Access to Essential Services

The store provides a comprehensive suite of services, including SIM card registration, mobile financial services through Mixx by Yas, and the sale of devices such as smartphones. In addition, tailored solutions for businesses are available, helping entrepreneurs operate more efficiently in an increasingly digital economy.

The outlet also introduces value-added services like the Mjasiriamali Box, designed specifically to empower small-scale entrepreneurs with tools to grow their ventures.

Leadership Applauds Digital Growth

The store was officially inaugurated by Jabir Shekimweri, who praised Yas for its contribution to economic development and digital transformation in the capital.

The opening of this store will create employment opportunities, boost economic activity, simplify access to services, and expand connectivity for residents,” he said.

Bringing Services Closer to Customers

Speaking at the launch, Mwangaza Matotola emphasized the company’s focus on accessibility.

Dodoma is growing rapidly, and demand for reliable communication services continues to increase,” she said.
Our goal is to bring services closer to customers, especially in high-traffic areas such as SGR stations.”

Matotola added that the store will play a key role in supporting both individual customers and businesses through innovative service offerings.

Enhancing the Passenger Experience

Representing the Director General of Tanzania Railways Corporation, Fredy Mwanjala highlighted the importance of integrated services at transport hubs.

The presence of Yas at the station strengthens its role as a hub for integrated services and enhances the passenger experience,” he noted.

Strengthening Yas’ National Footprint

The opening of the SGR Dodoma store brings the total number of Yas outlets in Dodoma to five, reflecting the company’s broader strategy to expand digital and financial services across Tanzania.

As demand for seamless connectivity and digital solutions continues to rise, Yas’ expansion into key infrastructure hubs positions the company as a critical enabler of Tanzania’s digital economy and financial inclusion agenda.
