Arusha, 5 October 2025 – The prestigious Vodacom Tanzania Open 2025 concluded in grand style at the scenic Kilimanjaro Golf & Wildlife Estate (Kiligolf) in Arusha with a colourful awards ceremony. The four-day tournament brought together golfers of various ages and skill levels from across Africa, marking another significant chapter in Tanzania’s golfing calendar.
Speaking during the event, Vodacom Tanzania PLC Board Chairman, Mr. David Tarimo, described the tournament as a resounding success.
“We’ve had four incredible days filled with thrilling competition, exceptional talent, and a remarkable passion for the sport. From seasoned professionals to emerging golfers, this year’s event attracted around 150 participants, making it one of the most memorable tournaments yet,” said Mr. Tarimo.
He further emphasized Vodacom’s strong commitment to sports and technology, noting:
“Golf reflects values we hold dear — precision, discipline, and strategic thinking. As a proud sponsor for the third consecutive year, we continue to invest in a platform that nurtures local talent, strengthens regional collaboration, and positions Tanzania as a hub for world-class sporting events. This year, we integrated advanced technology into the tournament — from real-time scoring updates to an enhanced fan experience powered by Vodacom’s network.”
The Vodacom Tanzania Open 2025 is officially recognized under the World Amateur Golf Ranking (WAGR), aligning with Vodacom’s broader mission to empower communities through sports, inclusion, and sustainable impact.
Tanzania Golf Union (TGU) Chairman, Mr. Gilman Kasiga, praised the partnership and highlighted the tournament’s growing influence on the sport locally:
“We are proud to partner with Vodacom Tanzania once again for this year’s event. Their commitment to excellence and innovation has elevated the standard of golf in the country. This tournament not only showcased outstanding talent but also demonstrated how strategic partnerships can drive sports development and inspire communities. For the third consecutive year, Vodacom has stood with us, proving its dedication to nurturing both sports and talent in Tanzania.”
The tournament offered significant cash prizes to both professional and amateur winners. Top professional golfers received up to TZS 8.2 million, while cash prizes were awarded to the top 22 performers. The leading amateur golfer received TZS 2.5 million, reflecting the event’s goal to celebrate excellence across all levels of the game.
Winners were determined based on scores over four days of stroke play, in accordance with R&A and USGA rules, supplemented by local Kiligolf regulations.
As Vodacom celebrates 25 years of connecting Tanzanians, the company continues to build a legacy of excellence — on the golf course, within communities, and across the broader East African region.
