Dar es Salaam, 13 October 2025 — The Dar es Salaam Regional Commissioner, Albert Chalamila, has applauded Monti International School for setting a benchmark in modern education in Tanzania. He commended the school for its holistic approach to learning that combines academic excellence, creativity, innovation, and sports development.

Delivering the Regional Commissioner’s message during the launch of the Monti International School Transformation ProgramKinondoni Municipal Secondary Education Officer Mtundi Nyamhanga emphasized the government’s commitment to creating a supportive environment for investors in the education sector.

“The government will continue creating an enabling environment for investors in education to enhance learning opportunities and inspire students to acquire diverse knowledge and skills — including foreign languages — that will prepare them for future employment,” Nyamhanga said.

He noted that the government welcomes private sector participation in education, recognizing that investment in schools plays a key role in expanding access to quality learning opportunities across the country.

“Knowledge and skills are invaluable,” he added. “Anyone with the capacity to open a school — whether primary or secondary — is encouraged to contribute to Tanzania’s education development.”

Nyamhanga commended Monti International School for exemplifying inclusive education that nurtures not only academic performance but also character, creativity, and physical well-being.

“Monti provides students with a strong academic foundation while nurturing curiosity, critical thinking, and global awareness,” he said.
“Through its investment in sports infrastructure — from the swimming pool and football pitch to multipurpose courts — the school instills discipline, teamwork, and resilience, preparing young people not only to win in sports but also to succeed in life.”

He further described the school’s transformation as a reflection of what visionary leadership and commitment to education can achieve.

“These transformations are not just about numbers,” Nyamhanga remarked. “They are a tangible example of what determination and strong leadership can accomplish. Fatma, your story is a reminder that great things begin with small steps.”

Speaking during the event, Fatma Fernandes, Founder and Head of Monti International School, unveiled plans for the school’s next phase of growth — the establishment of a new Madale Campus in 2026, which will begin offering secondary education.

“This marks an important milestone,” Fernandes said. “It extends our educational journey from early childhood through to secondary level — right here in Dar es Salaam — following the Cambridge curriculum. We are building not just a school, but a legacy; one that gives every child the opportunity to grow, lead, and inspire.”

Fernandes explained that with more than 150 students currently enrolled, the school’s transformation program is anchored on three key pillars: Cambridge-based learningsports excellence, and creativity and innovation.

Parents also shared their appreciation for the school’s approach to education. One of them, Thuwein Makamba, described it as “exceptional and life-changing.”

“The education provided here is a unique gift,” Makamba said. “As modern parents, we must realize that the best inheritance for our children is education — not buildings, farms, or other property. Those can be lost, but education is an inheritance that lasts forever.”

With its forward-looking transformation plan, Monti International School continues to position itself as a leading center for modern, inclusive, and globally relevant education in Tanzania.
