Mbeya, Tanzania – The Managing Director of Absa Bank Tanzania, Obedi Laiser, together with senior bank officials, paid a courtesy visit to the Mbeya Regional Commissioner, Beno Malisa, at the Regional Commissioner’s office in Mbeya during an official working visit to the region.

The visit formed part of the bank’s continued engagement with regional leadership as it strengthens partnerships aimed at supporting economic growth, financial inclusion, and business development in Mbeya and the wider southern highlands.

Upon arrival, Mr. Laiser and his delegation were warmly received by the Regional Commissioner. During the visit, the two leaders exchanged views on opportunities for collaboration between the regional administration and the banking sector to support local businesses, entrepreneurs, and community development initiatives.

Mr. Laiser was accompanied by several senior officials from the bank, including Director of Retail Banking, Ndabu Swere, Head of Customer Network & Sales Retail Banking, Mwilongo Msungu, Head of Strategy and Data, John Mosha, Head of Business Banking, Melvin Saprapasen, and Mbeya Branch Manager, Alto Hagamu.

During the meeting, the Regional Commissioner welcomed the bank’s leadership to the region and commended the role of financial institutions in supporting economic activities, particularly through financing businesses, empowering entrepreneurs, and expanding access to financial services.

The visit also provided an opportunity for the Absa leadership team to engage with regional stakeholders and explore ways of enhancing banking services for individuals, small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), and larger businesses operating in Mbeya.

Following the discussions, the delegation and the Regional Commissioner shared a light moment and later posed for a group photograph to mark the occasion.

Mr. Laiser and his team are in Mbeya as part of a broader official working visit aimed at strengthening relationships with stakeholders and gaining insights into opportunities for supporting economic development in the region.
