TANZANIA TO HOST E. AFRICAN PETROLEUM CONFERENCE AND EXHIBITION (EAPCE’25)

Tanzania will host the 11th East African Petroleum Conference and Exhibition (EAPCE’25) from March 5 to 7, 2025, at the Julius Nyerere International Convention Centre (JNICC) in Dar es Salaam. The theme of the conference is "Unlocking Energy Investment Opportunities: The Role of Petroleum Resources in Achieving Energy Security for Sustainable Development in East Africa."

The President of Tanzania, Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan, will officially open the conference. Before the main event, there will be a special seminar on clean energy, including clean cooking solutions and the use of Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) in vehicles, on March 4, 2025.

The EAPCE’25 conference will bring together over 1,000 participants, including policymakers, government leaders from East African Community (EAC) member states, international and local investors. Speaking at a media briefing, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Energy, Mr. Felchesmi Mramba, said:

"The EAPCE’25 conference will provide a platform to discuss the contribution of petroleum resources to the energy mix for sustainable development in East Africa, as well as investment opportunities in the oil and gas sector."

He also mentioned that the conference will feature presentations from industry experts on various topics, including oil and gas exploration and development, investment opportunities, the transition to clean energy, environmental concerns, legal and regulatory frameworks. Additionally, there will be an exhibition showcasing products and services from various companies in the oil and gas value chain.

Strategic Timing and Energy Goals

Mr. Mramba emphasized that this conference comes at a crucial time, following Tanzania's recent hosting of the Mission 300 Summit, where African leaders agreed on a five-year National Energy Plan (2025-2030). Tanzania aims to:
  • Increase electricity access to 75%
  • Ensure 100% electricity availability
  • Promote clean cooking solutions to 75% by 2030
"To achieve these goals, we need to utilize our natural resources, including oil and gas, to secure reliable energy and promote clean cooking solutions," said Mr. Mramba.

Field Visits and Learning Opportunities

The Chairperson of the Regional Organizing Committee, Dr. James Mataragio, who is also the Deputy Permanent Secretary for Oil and Gas, highlighted that EAPCE’25 will also include technical field visits to geological sites across East African countries.

"These visits will provide participants with firsthand insights into ongoing projects, future plans, and the geology of East Africa, helping investors and stakeholders identify business and collaboration opportunities," said Dr. Mataragio.

Participation and Registration

The Chairperson of the National Organizing Committee, Engineer Joyce Kisamo, urged companies and stakeholders in the oil and gas sector to register for participation and take advantage of this opportunity to showcase their products and services at the exhibition.
