Dar es Salaam, 5th October 2024: Diamond Trust Bank (DTB), in partnership with Lions Club Dar es Salaam, has successfully conducted an eye camp at Vijibweni Hospital in Kigamboni, providing critical eye care services to the local community. The initiative, part of DTB’s ongoing commitment to sustainability and social responsibility, saw over 3,000 individuals taken through comprehensive eye check-ups, with over 620 eye glasses distributed to those in need.

The event was graced by the newly appointed Africa Regional Director of the World Health Organization (WHO) and Member of Parliament for Kigamboni Constituency, Hon. Dr. Faustine Ndugulile, who commended DTB’s efforts in ensuring that essential healthcare services, particularly in the area of vision and eye health, are accessible to underserved populations. Dr. Ndugulile highlighted the importance of such initiatives in improving overall community health and expressed his gratitude for the continued partnership between DTB and local healthcare providers.

This initiative is one of many steps that DTB is taking to fulfill its mission of improving access to health services, particularly for vulnerable groups. The eye camp forms part of the bank’s broader corporate social responsibility strategy, which focuses on health, education, and environmental sustainability.

“At DTB, we believe that good health is fundamental to social and economic development. Our partnership with Lions Club Dar es Salaam aligns with our vision to support sustainable development, ensuring that every individual has access to quality healthcare. We have a commitment to restoring 10,000 eye sights by 2030 – it’s an uphill task but we are proud and determined to achieve this noble goal.” said Ravneet Chowdhury, [Chief Executive Officer oof DTB Tanzania], during the camp.

This eye camp is one of several that DTB has sponsored in its commitment to improving the lives of Tanzanians. The initiative complements the bank’s efforts in creating long-term, positive impacts on local communities. DTB continues to drive similar initiatives as part of its broader sustainability goals, focusing on key areas such as health, environmental conservation and education.
