DIAMOND TRUST BANK SUPPORTS YOUNG SCHOOL GIRLS IN ZANZIBAR

A Diamond Trust Bank Tanzania Staff educates students of Mwera Secondary School, Mwera Pongwe Secondary School and Moachi Primary School on Financial literacy as part of its CSR initiative.

Zanzibar, October 2024 - As part of its on-going commitment to community empowerment and sustainability, Diamond Trust Bank Tanzania in partnership with East Africa Television has successfully wrapped up this year’s Namthamini campaign in Zanzibar. The Bank distributed 315 re-usable sanitary pads [Tumaini Kits], to young girls at Mwera Secondary School, Mwera Pongwe Secondary School and Moachi Primary School. This initiative aims at addressing menstrual health challenges faced by young in schools through education and provision of essential sanitary products.

Besides the distribution of Tumaini Kits, the school girls were also taught on menstrual health, nutrition and mental health as these are critical knowledge required by girls in supporting both their personal and academic growth. The free sanitary towels [Tumaini Kits] addresses absenteeism caused by lack of menstrual hygiene products during the ‘good days’ hence un-interrupted attendance of classes.

Diamond Trust Bank Tanzania Staff educate young girls on menstrual hygiene in reusable sanitary pads, referred to as Tumaini Kits at Mwera Secondary School, Mwera Pongwe Secondary School and Moachi Primary School (upper primary).

This initiative under partnership with the Zanzibar Maisha Bora Foundation [ZMBF] and East Africa Television & Radio highlights Diamond Trust Banks’ dedication to sustainable community development and its focus on fostering the well-being and success of young women in our communities.

The Bank is dedicated to drive positive social change through a variety of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) engagements with a focus on sustainability, empowerment and financial inclusion while actively contributing to the social and economic well-being of Tanzanian communities.
