NMB KUWEZESHA MAKAMPUNI YA KOREA KUSINI YANAYOTEKELEZA MIRADI NCHINI


Benki ya NMB Plc imesisitiza kuendelea kutekeleza dhamira yake ya kuyawezesha makampuni kutoka Korea Kusini yenye nia ya kuwekeza hapa nchini, ikiwa ni sehemu ya jitihada zake za kuchangia ukuaji wa uchumi endelevu.

Kauli hiyo ilitolewa na Mkuu wa Kitengo cha Miamala Benki ya NMB Linda Teggisa wakati ya semina ya ‘2024 Korea – Tanzania Project Plaza’ iliyofadhiliwa na Benki ya NMB jijini Dar es Salaam na kukutanisha zaidi ya kampuni 100 jijini Dar es Salaam na mtandaoni.


"Dhamira yetu iliimarishwa zaidi baada ya kusaini Mkataba wa Makubaliano (MoU) na Shirika la Korea Kusini linalojihusisha na kufadhili miradi katika sekta ya ujenzi la Korea Finance for Construction (K-FINCO) miezi michache iliyopita. Kupitia ushirikiano huu, tunalenga kupanua masuluhisho yetu ya kifedha zaidi kwa kupitia ufadhili wa vifaa ili kusaidia utekelezaji wa miradi," alisema.

Teggisa aliongeza, "Tunatarajia kupanua wigo wetu kwa kutoa huduma zingine ikiwa ni pamoja na kutoa ufadhili wa mitaji, ufadhili wa mali na masuluhisho ya miamala ili kuongeza mnyororo mzima wa thamani wa miradi."


Alibainisha kuwa Benki ya NMB itaendelea kuwa mdau madhubuti katika ufadhili wa miradi ya kimlalati kupitia ubia na taasisi kubwa za fedha duniani huku akiipongeza kuipongeza Serikali ya awamu ya sita chini ya Rais Samia Suluhu Hassan kwa kuweka mazingira mazuri ya biashara.

“Mfumo imara kwa kiasi kikubwa umechangia ukuaji wa sekta ya benki na fedha katika miaka ya hivi karibuni. Sekta ya benki imeshuhudia ukuaji mkubwa katika utoaji wa mikopo kutoka shilingi trilioni 34.6 mwaka 2021 hadi kufikia shilingi trilioni 46 kwa mujibu wa ripoti,” alisema.

Alibainisha kuwa benki yake itaendelea kuchukua jukumu kuu katika kukuza ushirikishwaji wa kifedha kama sehemu ya juhudi za kuziba pengo kwa wasio na akaunti za benki.

Teggisa wakati wa hafla hiyo alipongeza uhusiano wa muda mrefu kati ya Tanzania na Korea Kusini na kuongeza kuwa uhusiano kati ya nchi hizo mbili umeendelea kukuza maendeleo.

Awali, Mkurugenzi Mtendaji wa Kituo cha Uwekezaji Tanzania (TIC), Gilead Teri wakati wa hafla hiyo rai kwa makampuni zaidi ya Korea Kusini kuja kuwekeza hapa nchini.

NMB COMMITTED TO FINANCING S. KOREAN FIRMS EXECUTING PROJECTS IN TANZANIA


NMB Bank Plc has reiterated its commitment to financing South Korean companies with interest in investing in Tanzania, as part of its efforts to support sustainable economic growth.

The NMB Bank Head Transaction Banking, Linda Teggisa reaffirmed this during an interactive hybrid session sponsored by NMB Bank held in Dar es Salaam dubbed, “2024 Korea – Tanzania Project Plaza’ that brought together over 100 companies in Dar es Salaam and online.



“This is further cemented by a strategic partnership sealed between our bank and Korea Finance for Construction (K-FINCO) a few months back. Through this partnership, we aim to extend our financial solutions further in the form of trade finance facilities to support the execution of the projects,” said.

Teggisa added, “We expect to extend other services including capital financing, asset financing and transactional solutions to cover the entire value chain of the projects.”

She noted that NMB Bank will continue to be a strong player in project financing through partnerships with global financial institutions and commended the sixth phase Government for creating a conducive business environment.



“A very strong regulatory framework has helped push the growth of the banking and financial sector in recent years. The banking sector has seen a consistent growth in credit provisions from 34.6trn/- in 2021 to 46trn/- according to reports,” she said.

She noted that NMB Bank will continue playing a leading role in driving financial inclusion as part of efforts to bridge the no banked gap.

During the event, Teggisa commended the long-term relationship between Tanzania and South Korea adding that the ties between the two countries have continued to foster development.

Earlier, the Tanzania Investment Center (TIC) Executive Director, Gilead Teri during the event lured more South Korean firms to come and invest in Tanzania.

BANDARI YA MTWARA KUSHUGHULIKIA SHEHENA YOTE YA KOROSHO

MtwaraMamlaka ya Usimamizi wa Bandari Tanzania (TPA) imetangaza kuwa Bandari ya Mtwara ipo tayari kushughulikia shehena yote ya korosho kwa ajili ya mauzo ya nje katika msimu wa sasa wa uuzaji.

Hii ni kufuatia agizo la Rais Dkt. Samia Suluhu Hassan kwamba bandari hiyo itumike kama njia kuu ya kusafirisha korosho ghafi kutoka mikoa ya kusini mwa Tanzania kwenda katika masoko ya kimataifa. 

Akizungumza alipokuwa katika ziara yake mkoani Mtwara mnamo Septemba mwaka jana, Rais Samia alisisitiza kuwa usafirishaji wa korosho kupitia bandari nyingine unatakiwa upate kibali kutoka kwa Mkuu wa Mkoa. Akizingatia agizo hilo, Meneja wa Bandari ya Mtwara, Ferdinand Nyathi, alisema kuwa bandari hiyo sasa imeboreshwa na ipo tayari kushughulikia shehena yote ya korosho msimu huu.

“Msimu uliopita, baada ya agizo la Rais Samia Suluhu Hassan, tuliweza kusafirisha tani 253,000 za korosho na kushughulikia jumla ya meli 28. Mwaka huu, tumejiandaa zaidi kushughulikia mazao ya korosho. Kwa ufupi, tuko tayari kabisa,” alisema Bw Nyathi alipokuwa akizungumza na waandishi wa habari siku ya Ijumaa.

Maandalizi ya bandari yameimarishwa na upatikanaji wa vifaa vipya, ikiwa ni pamoja na kreni mbili za rununu, mashine ya kushughulikia makasha matupu, “reach stackers”, na Tag Boats za kisasa. Vifaa hivi vimeboresha kwa kiasi kikubwa uwezo wa kuhudumia makontena katika bandari hiyo.

“Vifaa hivi vipya vimetuwezesha kujiweka katika nafasi bora zaidi ya kusafirisha korosho zote ambazo Tanzania itauza nje msimu huu,” alisema Bw Nyathi kwa furaha. 

Kwa kuwa msimu wa mauzo ya korosho tayari umeshaanza, makontena takriban 3,700 yapo tayari katika Bandari ya Mtwara kushughulikia usafirishaji wa korosho. Bw Nyathi aliongeza kuwa, kwa ushirikiano na sekta binafsi ambayo inamiliki Maeneo ya Makontena ya Ndani (ICDs), bandari hiyo ina makontena mengine 800 ambayo yanaweza kutumika. Upakiaji wa korosho kwenye makontena unaendelea.

Maboresho haya katika Bandari ya Mtwara ni habari njema kwa wakulima wa korosho, ambao wameona ongezeko la bei katika minada ya karibuni. Kwa mfano, katika mnada wa kwanza uliofanyika tarehe 11 Oktoba, ulioandaliwa na Chama Kikuu cha Ushirika cha Tandahimba na Newala (Tanecu), tani za ujazo 3,857 za korosho ghafi ziliuzwa kwa bei kati ya Sh4,035 na Sh4,120 kwa kilo. Mnada wa pili uliofanyika tarehe 12 Oktoba, ulioandaliwa na Chama Kikuu cha Ushirika cha Lindi Mwamba (LMCU), uliuza tani za ujazo 6,435 kwa bei kati ya TZS 3,400 na Sh3,865 kwa kilo.

Ili kuvutia zaidi wauzaji nje, Bw. Nyathi alitangaza kuwa bandari hiyo imefuta gharama zote za kuhifadhi makasha yenye korosho kwa msimu mzima wa mauzo. 

“Hapo awali, kuhifadhi makasha ilikuwa bure kwa kipindi maalum, na baada ya hapo gharama za kuhifadhi zilianza kutozwa. Hata hivyo, kwa msimu huu, kuhifadhi ni bure kabisa kwa msimu mzima wa korosho,” alieleza.

Bw Nyathi alihakikisha pia kwamba usimamizi wa korosho hautaathiri shughuli nyingine za mizigo katika bandari hiyo, ikiwemo bidhaa kama mkaa na saruji. “Tunatarajia meli tatu zaidi kufika bandarini wiki hii, zikiwa na makontena zaidi,” alisema.

Alisisitiza kuwa Bandari ya Mtwara ipo katika eneo muhimu kijiografia kwa wateja wa TPA katika mikoa ya kusini na nchi jirani, akibainisha kuwa maboresho hayo yamewezeshwa na uwekezaji mkubwa wa serikali katika miezi ya karibuni.

NMB, IFC & MASTERCARD PARTNER TO ENHANCE FINANCIAL ACCESS FOR WOMEN IN TANZANIA

NMB Bank Plc has partnered with the International Finance Corporation (IFC) and Mastercard to launch the "Banking on Women Advisory Project." This initiative aims to enhance their existing Jasiri Proposition to better attract, retain, and grow women-led businesses in Tanzania.


The three institutions signed the agreement on Thursday, October 24, 2024, during the International Monetary Fund-World Bank Group 2024 Annual Meetings in Washington, DC. NMB Bank’s delegation was led by Chief Financial Officer Juma Kimori, accompanied by Treasurer, Aziz Chacha and Senior Manager of Products, Beatrice Mwambije.


Current data from Financial Sector Deepening Tanzania (FSDT) shows that only 22% of Tanzanians utilize commercial banking services. When viewed through a gender lens, that number drops to just 15%. The challenges are even more pronounced in rural areas and among non-formalized businesses. As the largest commercial bank in Tanzania, NMB Bank Plc recognizes the urgent need to address this situation.


This four-year project aims to develop a comprehensive customer value proposition that addresses both the financial and non-financial needs of women and women-led enterprises, whether in urban or rural settings. By leveraging primary customer research and non-traditional data sources, NMB Bank will create tailored solutions that effectively respond to the unique challenges faced by women entrepreneurs.


Additionally, the project will focus on capacity building for NMB staff, enhancing sales and service models while promoting financial literacy and access for their customers.

Mradi huu wa miaka minne unalenga kuja na masuluhisho ya kifedha yanayokidhi mahitaji ya wanawake au biashara zinazomilikiwa na wanawake nchini ikiwemo huduma mahsusi, mikopo nafuu na elimu ya kifedha.


Kupitia makubaliano haya, wafanyakazi wa Benki ya NMB pia watapatiwa mafunzo ya kuwajengea uwezo ili kuendelea kubaini fursa za kubuni masuluhisho zaidi yanayozingatia mahitaji ya kifedha na yasiyo ya kifedha ya wanawake nchini ili kuimarisha mchango wa kundi hili katika ustawi wa jamii na uchumi wa Taifa.


Ushirikiano huu ni hatua muhimu katika mkakati wa benki ya NMB katika ujumuishwaji wa kifedha wa Watanzania, kupitia kampeni yao ya “Sisi ni Huduma #tumekupata”.

Dar es Salaam, October 24, 2024: Tausi Africa has officially launched Manka, an AI-powered financial analytics platform designed to improve credit assessments in Tanzania’s informal economy. The platform analyzes both bank and mobile money statements, enabling financial service providers to make faster and more accurate lending decisions. By reducing credit assessment times from approximately 3 hours per customer to under 2 minutes, Manka aims to enhance efficiency within the financial sector and support financial inclusion.


The launch event took place on October 24, 2024, at the Hyatt Hotel in Dar es Salaam, bringing together stakeholders from across the banking and financial sectors to discuss the platform's potential impact on lending practices.


Eric Massinda, CEO of the Financial Sector Deepening Tanzania (FSDT), delivered the keynote address at the event, stating, "Manka represents a significant advancement in Tanzania's financial landscape. By leveraging alternative data and technology, the platform addresses key challenges in lending, particularly in underserved sectors.

At the launch, Tausi Africa also announced its partnership with Creditinfo Tanzania to expand the reach and impact of Manka within the financial sector. This collaboration enables both companies to offer Manka’s advanced credit analytics capabilities to a broader range of financial service providers, empowering them to serve their customers with improved financial insights and solutions. The partnership represents a shared commitment to enhancing financial services and supporting economic growth in Tanzania.
