“Our donations are part of our commitment as a bank to support community development. We are obligated to ensure that our surrounding community benefits from our profit returns by aiding education, health, and emergency sectors. At Kimamba Health Center, NMB has donated 60 mattresses, 60 bed sheets, and a blood pressure machine,” Shango elaborated.
She mentioned that for over a decade, the bank has been dedicating 1% of its earnings back to the community.
Dr. Alfred Chiponda, the Chief Medical Officer at Kimamba Health Center, conveyed his appreciation to the bank’s management, thanking them for providing 60 mattresses, 60 bed sheets, and three blood pressure monitors, amounting to TZS 8.1 million.
“We thank NMB for accepting our request to support the acquisition of medical supplies, and today (yesterday), they have given us 60 patient mattresses, 60 bed sheets, and three blood pressure monitors. However, we continue to face a shortage of medical equipment, including a modern dental and oral care unit and an X-ray machine. We urge more organizations to contribute,” added Dr. Chiponda.
Upon receiving the donation, Shaka Hamdu Shaka, the Kilosa District Commissioner, praised the bank's essential support to the district by redistributing its profits for community benefit.
"NMB has been a significant development partner, providing much-needed assistance and relief, especially following the floods during the rainy season by donating mattresses. We are grateful, and today (yesterday), we have received medical equipment at Kimamba Health Center, and 235 desks have been allocated to our four primary schools, while Chanzulu Secondary School has received 50 chairs and tables,” Shaka commented.
He urged patients visiting Kimamba Health Center to maintain the medical equipment and encouraged teachers to oversee the careful use of desks and chairs by students to alleviate resource shortages in schools.
