The contribution of AngloGold Ashanti - Geita Gold Mining Limited (GGML) has continued to be recognised by various stakeholders in the mining sector through the Financial Conference on Investment and Mining Tanzania 2023 for its efforts in corporate social responsibility and focus on occupational health and safety.
The move comes after the company won two awards, being the overall winner in Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and Environmental Protection and Occupational Health and Safety. The awards, presented by Tanzania's Minister of Minerals, have further demonstrated GGML's status as a role model in health and safety and in supporting the national economy.
Hon. Monica Chang'anamuno, Minister of Mines, Government of Malawi, accompanied by Anthony Mavunde, Minister of Minerals, presented the awards to Terry Strong, Managing Director of GGML, and Simon Shayo, Vice President for Sustainability and Corporate Affairs at AngloGold Ashanti Africa.
The event, called Madini Gala Night & Awards, was held on 25 October 2023 in Dar es Salaam.
