EATV presenting the impact of Namthamini Campaign countrywide whilst expressing gratitude for DTB’s significant contribution.

Diamond Trust Bank Tanzania PLC [DTB] has donated sanitary towels to EATV’s Namthamini Campaign in support of young girls countrywide, as the global community commemorates the International Day of the Girl Child; an inspiring day recognizing girls’ rights and the unique challenges facing girls around the world. One of the challenges facing Girl child is the interruption of school attendance due to lack of menstrual hygiene towels.

DTBs commitment to the wellbeing of the community is a key agenda anchored in its Corporate Social Responsibility framework that covers Health, Education, Environment and Humanitarian Aid. The improvement of menstrual hygiene to the Girl child is a catalyst for a healthier Girl child able to acquire education, compete fairly with boys in classroom and contribute in the overall growth of the economy. This donation shall directly benefit Girls from underprivileged communities who would otherwise miss their academic classes during menstrual cycles given the hindrances in obtaining the much-needed towels.

Speaking with members of the press during the handover ceremony, the CEO of Diamond Trust Bank Tanzania PLC Mr. Ravneet Chowdhury said that “The school girls who will benefit from this donation will not only be able to attend classes uninterrupted during menstrual cycle, but also improve their standards of hygiene tremendously. I’m also proud of all our staff members for their contributions in making this a success. We would like to give young Girls the opportunity to excel in their academics and hope that they will also one day contribute towards the growth of the nation and our communities”.

Through partnerships, the bank is engaged in medical camps with a target of restoration of 500 eye sights annually, improvement of the environment by developing forests, provision of clean and safe drinking water to children in primary schools and construction of modern toilet facilities in many public schools.
