GEITA GOLD MINING LADIES DONATE MEDICAL EQUIPMENT TO GEITA DISTRICT COUNCIL

A group of female workers working for Geita Gold Mining Limited (GGML ladies) have donated various medical equipment to help pregnant women and parents give birth at Nzela hospital and the Kasota Health Center located in Geita District Council.

Speaking about the support, the Vice Chairperson of the group, Mrs. Lina Sitta, said women who work at GGML have been affected by the challenges of the shortage of medical equipment in the health centres in the surrounding villages.

"We have decided at the moment to start with the Kasota and Nzela villages which are closest to the GGML mine and mothers have been facing challenges such as lack of soap, towels for mothers and diapers for children. We have given this support special to celebrate International Women's Day.

The Assistant Physician of the Kasota Health Centre, Stanley Samola Victor, extended his gratitude to GGML ladies for providing support but also for the GGML to help with the construction of the laboratory, the servant's house and the martenity building at the centre.

"You have done well to International Women's Day this year. Many patients here are very relieved from this support," he said.

The slogan of International Women's Day this year is Innovation and technological change: the catalyst for gender equality.
