ABSA LAUNCHES QR CODE ATM WITHDRAWAL SOLUTION

6 September 2022 – Absa Bank Tanzania Limited today announced the launch of a first-to-market, innovative and exciting ATM withdrawal capability that will see customers withdraw cash safely at any Absa ATM without the need for a physical card and minimal contact with the ATM.

This is a first of its kind innovation in Tanzania, Absa Bank customers will be able to withdraw money from any Absa ATM through the Absa Mobile Baking App using a QR code. This follows another digital innovation the bank launched last month where the bank introduced the Absa Business Debit Card to its Business Banking customers.

According to the bank, in response to heightened hygiene and health requirements caused by the pandemic customers are increasingly adopting and embracing digital transactions transforming the way the banking industry operates.

Speaking at the launch, Mr Samuel Mkuyu, Head of Customer Experience and Digital, said; “Our customers now enjoy banking safely and simply with Contactless and card-free cash withdrawals. That means less risk of card loss, cloning or skimming, safer no-touch transactions, and faster withdrawals. Through the QR withdrawal capability, we are meeting our customers’ needs for safe, convenient, and modern banking solutions.”

Absa customers registered on the Absa Mobile Banking App can now scan a QR code generated in the App at any Absa ATM to withdraw cash. Most importantly, this innovation provides a seamless, uncomplicated and heightened experience by building on capabilities and platforms that customers are already familiar with.”
