President Samia Suluhu Hassan witnesses the signing of two contracts, including one for the construction of lot four, Tabora - Isaka Standard Gauge Railway at State House in Dar es Salaam on Monday. |
"In some instances, these legislations take us backward instead of moving us forward. It is high time these laws are reviewed in order to hasten decision making in undertaking investment projects. We should not be slaves of our own laws", President Samia directed.
The Head of State made the directives at State House in Dar es Salaam on Monday, shortly after witnessing the signing of two contracts including one for construction of lot four of Standard Gauge Railway (SGR) stretching 168 kilometres between Tabora and Isaka.
The other contract was between Tanzania Railways Corporation (TRC) and Korea National Railway (KORAIL) for capacity building of Tanzanians, who will be tasked with operating railway services once the SGR is completed.
Construction of the Tabora - Isaka section, which is part of phase one of the SGR between Dar es Salaam and Mwanza covers a total of 1,219 kilometres and will cost 900.1 million US dollars (about 2.094 trillion).
