NMB Bank has reached an agreement with Zanzibar Government to maintain Forodhani garden in Zanzibar as part of its efforts to support the island’s environmental conservation drive and blue economy agenda.
The Forodhani garden maintenance project seeks to enhance tourists experience and better reflect the area’s renowned reputation, and will enable the garden to woo more visitors annually while contributing to revitalization of the tourism industry.
Speaking to journalists in Zanzibar on Thursday on the sidelines of the upcoming Zanzibar Boat Race sponsored by NMB Bank scheduled to take place this Saturday, the Zanzibar Urban District Commissioner, Rashid Simai Msaraka said NMB Bank has been a good development partner to the Zanzibar government adding that the bank has been instrumental in supporting various development initiatives in the Isles.
He noted that the Sixth Phase Government under President Samia Suluhu Hassan and President Hussein Mwinyi has always prioritized working closely with the private sector and urged more companies to support government’s development initiatives.
“We have worked closely with NMB bank in the past years and I am authoritatively revealing that we have already reached an agreement with NMB Bank to develop and maintain Forodhani garden here in Zanzibar,” Msaraka said.
He noted that to enhance local content for the project, local contractors will be given the considered expressing optimism that the project will help improve the face of Zanzibar.
NMB Head of Card Business, Philbert Casmir during the event reiterated the bank’s commitment to supporting financial inclusion adding that the bank will continue offering tailor-made products to meet customers’ demands.
He said the bank’s plans are underway to extend more financial services to areas of Wete, Nungwi, Mkoani, Airport terminal among other areas and added that this Saturday will launch Teleza Kidigitali campaign that offers stress-free banking with various electronic banking solutions.
“After the successful launch of our Teleza Kidigitali campaign in many regions across Tanzania, it is now time for Zanzibar. All is set for the Zanzibar launch this Saturday so people in Zanzibar should brace themselves for a unique banking experience,” he said.
In a related development, NMB bank in partnership with Britam Insurance have sponsored this year’s Zanzibar Boat Race.
The two companies have set aside a total of TZS 6.5 million in cash prizes to winners and will offer an insurance package covering death, injuries and treatment to all participants for a period of one year.
