SMILE EXPANDS ULTRA-FAST INTERNET TO ZANZIBAR

Zuweina Farah, Smile Country Manager with Zanzibar's Minister of State President's Office Responsible for Economy and Investment, Hon. Mudrick Soraga celebrating the launch of Smile 4G LTE broadband ultra fast internet services, launched in Zanzibar yesterday.

Smile Tanzania CEO, Zuweina Farah in discussion with TENMET Board Chairperson, Faraja Nyalandu on existing Smile Tanzania Investment Opportunities in Zanzibar and how to use them. This discussion was part of the Opening of 4G LTE Network in Zanzibar earlier yesterday.

Zanzibar - Smile Communications announced its expansion in Zanzibar, providing reliable, fast 4G LTE mobile broadband internet services across the Island.

Smile Communications, is an African telecommunications group with operations in Tanzania, Nigeria, Uganda, and the Democratic Republic of the Congo.

“Following Smile Tanzania's recent investment in network expansion, we are excited to bring the best 4G LTE broadband internet services to customers in Zanzibar”, said Zuweina Farah Smile's Country Manager.



Adding on Mr. Ahmad Farroukh, Smile Group’s Chief Executive Officer said "Dar es Salaam was the first city in Africa to experience true 4G LTE when Smile launched its internet services there in May 2013. Today, the people of Zanzibar can celebrate another first, enabled by the latest 4G LTE technology, when they connect to Smile internet with data speeds of up to 50Mbps".

The launch was complemented with guests across different industries , officiating the launch was the Guest of Honor Minister of State President's Office Responsible for Economy and Investment Hon. Mr Mudrick Soraga.

Over the past two years, with Mrs. Zuweina Farah at the helm, Smile has invested in redesigning and expanding its network to offer customers improved internet services with even faster data speeds. Smile's customers’ growth has been very positive, as it continues to deliver superior, reliable SuperFast internet to customers. “The investments have laid a foundation for a more digitally enabled economy, in-line with the government’s digital transformation strategy.” Comments, Mrs. Farah.

The new technology builds on the growing footprint of Smile’s network, which has been activated on in 7 regions until the end of 2021. Early January 2022, Smile’s expansion plans took shape and already, Smile has activated sites in two additional cities including Zanzibar, Pwani, Dar es Salaam, Morogoro, Dodoma, Mwanza, Mbeya, Kilimanjaro, and Arusha, with more cities and regions scheduled to be switched on in coming months. Technically, the network technology allows peak download speeds of up to 50Mbps.
