Addressing journalists, a representative from CEED Mr. Fred Laiser said the purpose of the event is to raise awareness of managing their business and to bring together entrepreneurs from Tanzania and outside of Tanzania to learn more.
‘‘As I said CEED's mission is to empower entrepreneurs, especially from agribusiness and food processing. Today we meet here to provide them with the knowledge of managing their business, especially when the business is growing and the challenges are increasing’, Said Fred.
Speaking on behalf of participants from Tanzania, Ms. Elizabeth Swai, a successful poultry entrepreneur said she is happy to receive training from international trainers and share experience with other entrepreneurs that will enable to grow her business.
“Being an entrepreneur is a challenge and as your business grows the challenges become more complex. As entrepreneurs it is very important to always challenge yourselves to provide the best quality, the best services or products if you are too competitive in the market”, said Elizabeth Swai.
Forty business owners participated from Tanzania and out of Tanzania including an international angel investor and successful entrepreneur from Macedonia, Mr. Robin Zimbakov, who shared his journey as an entrepreneur from humble beginnings to large sized business

CEED is a global organization with its head office based in USA. CEED Tanzania was officially launched in 2017. Since then, CEED has supported more 70 SMEs with business management training and advisory services, networking, finance and market linkages. CEED is a program of the Small Enterprise Assistance Funds (SEAF), a global impact investment organization with more than 25 years of experience. To improve the investment readiness and competitiveness of businesses, CEED offers trainings through peer-to-peer learning opportunities where entrepreneurs share their experiences, help each other overcome obstacles, and develop trust in one another through the CEED network while having access to tailored, practical, growth-oriented support at a local and global level.
In Tanzania, CEED is supported by the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA). As part of its contribution to the growth of a vibrant SME sector in Tanzania, CEED will utilize its experience in investments, technical assistance and training to help entrepreneurs address their challenges to growth; incorporate business management systems; understand and identify appropriate financing; manage and sustain new growth and investments to their businesses.
For Tanzanian SMEs to become more competitive and achieve the desired growth, investments in developing the capacity of entrepreneurs is critical. Investments in business management skills and investment readiness may help to unlock the true potential of Tanzania’s SMEs. Tanzania has hundreds of thousands of businesses in the country however most of them fail to grow because of limited management skills, information, and technical knowledge and networks to grow these businesses. CEED will work with government, private sector partners, institutions and associations to achieve the goal of building the skills and capacity of entrepreneurs to grow their businesses to become competitive industries. CEED will initially invite businesses in Dar es Salaam, Dodoma and Arusha regions to register as members in 2017 and 2018.
