As the banking industry keeps evolving, thriving to offer the most convenient and seamless banking solutions, Standard Chartered Bank Tanzania has launched its fully digital online banking solution that will give clients access to over 70 self-service requests, making banking more accessible, hassle-free and convenient.
The digital App is geared to give clients more flexible banking options. With Standard Chartered’s digital solution, anyone can join the Bank by downloading the SC Mobile Tanzania App. The App. offers free online accounts can be opened both in local and US dollar currencies enabling the Bank’s clients to enjoy benefits such as: zero fee on bill payment, zero monthly ledger, no minimum balance, free initial ATM cards and zero fee on the Standard Chartered to Standard Chartered Online Bank transfers.
Speaking at the press launch held in Dar es Salaam on Wednesday, the CEO of Standard Chartered Bank in Tanzania, Sanjay Rughani, said, “It has been a long time coming and we are pleased to launch our digital bank initiative here in Tanzania. This is a key milestone on our digital journey as a Bank and underlines our commitment to continue steadily investing in modern technology, build systems and upskill our people whilst tapping into our global expertise to make digitization a reality in Tanzania.”
On his part, the Bank’s Head of Retail Banking, Ajmair Riaz, said that the Bank’s new digital banking solution has been developed in consideration of the Bank’s existing and potential clients’ needs in mind. “We took into consideration the feedback received from our clients to provide the innovative technology that allows them to execute all banking activities from a mobile device. In addition, for the first time, our client on boarding journey has been fully digitized and a client can open a new account, end to end, through the SC Mobile Tanzania App. without needing to come to the Bank’s branches.” Mr. Riaz said.
Speaking about digitization in banking, the Bank’s CEO, Mr. Rughani said, “Digitalization to us means disruption from traditional and conventional ways of banking to transforming banking business with the sole objective of improving client experience. It is imperative that we respond to the changing customer needs by providing solutions that address their evolving needs. Clients today are looking for products and partners who will offer solutions that are accessible, convenient, cost effective and, most importantly, forward looking.”
As it launched the SC Mobile Tanzania App. the Bank also announced one of Tanzania’s songsters, Vanessa Mdee, as its Ambassador for the App. Vanessa will run the campaign for the App. dubbed, ‘Be Unstoppable’ for a period of one year.
In introducing Ms. Mdee, the Bank’s Head of Retail Banking, Ajmair Riaz, said that the Bank had selected Ms. Mdee because she is an inspiration, not only due to her artistic abilities, but also because she is forward thinking, dynamic, innovative, enterprising, approachable, connected, consistent and committed to excellence.
The launch was also attended by the Bank’s Regional Head of Retail Banking for Africa and the Middle East, Jaydeep Gupta, and the Bank’s Head of Digital Banking for the Africa Region, Yustus Aribariho.
The App can be downloaded or upgraded via Google play store or Apple Store.
