TAXIFY LAUNCHES LOW COST CATEGORY IN DAR ES SALAAM

Dar es Salaam July 11th, 2018. Taxify, Europe’s and Africa’s fastest-growing ride-hailing platform launches a new category, Taxify Bomba, today in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. The ride-hailing firm seeks to expand rider’s options and to allow drivers with smaller, lower consumption vehicles an opportunity to access earnings.

Taxify Bomba is Taxify’s economy category with pocket-friendly fares. The category consists of smaller 4-seater cars with 1300cc engines suitable for everyday commuting. These are vehicles with smaller engines that consume less fuel, resulting in lower operational costs to drivers and therefore more affordable fares for riders.

Remmy Eseka, Operations Manager of Taxify in Tanzania comments: “We have recognized that as our customer base expands, they grow accustomed to using the ride-hailing service, people are now moving to a point where they want more options on how they can get around the city. There is also a rising number of drivers who want to use smaller engine capacity vehicles. This category serves the needs of both the drivers and riders”.

The Taxify Bomba option launches at a 30% off discounted price. The Base Fare will be TZS 800, TZS 210 per km, TZS 50 per minute and a minimum Fare of TZS 2000.

“The pricing for this category has been developed carefully so as to appeal to riders desiring a more affordable way to move around as well as driver-partners who would like to gain access to more earnings. Drivers will be able to take more trips with this new category,” Remmy explained.

Taxify has shown increased innovation and a keen sensitivity to the needs of its drivers and riders. Taxify Bomba launches a few months after the launch of Taxify Bajaji (Bajaji ride-hailing option) and Taxify XL (six seater vehicles).
