We received multiple requests from the residents here who desired to use the service but it was not yet available, so we decided to launch here. Hundreds of drivers have registered on the platform and we have already seen hundreds of trips take place even before making the official launch announcement. Mwanza is ready for ride-hailing and we are confident that the business will do well in the Rock City,” said Remmy Eseka, Head of Operations, Taxify Tanzania.
Mary Tesha, the District Commissioner of Nyamagana district who represented the Regional Commissioner at the Taxify Mwanza launch commented, “As a government, we have built infrastructure and passed regulations that have created an enabling environment for businesses and investors to come in and create opportunities for Tanzanians. ride-hailing has been seen to improve quality of life in cities by providing income opportunities to drivers and reliable, affordable transportation to residents. Mwanza is ready to join the league of modern cities in the world, and we start by celebrating the arrival of Taxify.”
Happy drivers mean a better quality service for riders. Taxify believes in treating its drivers with respect, allowing them to earn more than what they receive outside of the platform and providing a range of safeguards and features that help them work in the way that suits them best. It also believes in providing exemplary customer service to riders, with a local customer support team and the option to pay for rides in cash.
Taxify has been operational in Tanzania’s capital, Dar es Salaam since December 2017 and already has thousands of drivers earning a living from the application. The application allows drives spend more time on the road driving and less time in parking spaces waiting for customers.
